Safe to delete Trainz 2004 while keeping other versions?

I would like to delete TS2004 because it is so old now that I never use this version and it's taking up a lot of unnecessary space on my comp. I will be keeping TS2009 and TS2010 Engineer's Edition. I have merged my content from TS2004 into the other versions. So can I now safely delete TS2004 or do the other versions still need to have it installed? Thank you.

I would still back up your assets and routes in 04 format, on an external hard drive, just in case you ever want to re-install 04 on a low end PC, or become dissatisfied with 09, 10, 12.

Is that called the "Local" file in TRS2004 ?

I enjoy the simplicity of 04 & 06 surveyor, as they have no layers ... I create my routes in TRS2006, and import them into 10, 12 for testing

I agree with last post, keep any content you have as it may be useful in the future when a route is looking for certain assets which are no longer available via the DLS.

I have an "old beater" Toshiba Satellite 105, 2GB HD, 2GB RAM, 1.75GHz CPU, Integrated Graphics laptop that I use for creating routes in TRS2006, and you can pick up one of these low end laptops for under $200, and run lower versions of Trainz on it.

I have a desktop PC that I install all my versions of Trainz, as it has a 1TB Hard Drive, and a mediocre GT430 video card.

A 1-2TB external hard drive can be bought for well under $100, and DVD+RW or DVD+R discs are cheap, and hold 4.75GB of files each

2004 World contains two folders - "Downloads" (self explanatory) and "Custom" (your own creations). Back-up both! Many assets in these folders will be OK in later versions of Trainz if you ever want them.

Thanks for all of your great answers. Sounds like 5 votes in favor of backing it up, so that is what I will do, put it on an ext. drive and just forget about it till I need the files one day. There was a lot of time put into downloading all of those so I may as well keep them.
