S & C Locos run out of water

When operating S & C loco's in driver mode, the injectors on most of the locos will just not work and I gradually run out of water, then steam, and it all comes to a grinding halt. I haven't struck any 'running ' problems like this before from the loco's inbuilt in 2010 or Murchison 2 only Settle & Carlisle.
Is this a known problem with S & C or is something else amiss? Cheers

This is odd. I have had nothing but satisfaction with the s& C steamers in cab mode. I do have huge problems with the Murch 2 narrow guage steam engines. I have gone so far as to try to "alias" the S&C locos to the Murch 2 locos just so I can run them in cab mode for more than 15 minutes.

On my set up (2010) the S&C engines work exactly as advertised and i can keep a good head of steam when i use the blower at low speeds. No issues with the injectors at all. One thing I do is to really crank them open for a few seconds to get some water level then back them off. Light use doesnt seems to work so well.

The Murch 2 36ng stuff (the Colorado & whatever #9 in particuler) gives me fits though. Nothing I can do will ever give me more steam chest pressure and eventually I end up at 20 psi and no hope of ever getting it back up to even 25.
There have been a few posts here about older engine specs needing to be conformed to the new 2010 specs and one or two people have said they have done it but it isn't like i can just search for the fixed ones and find them. At some point I guess I have to learn to edit this stuff but who has the time?
Frustrating that this is the state of the premium content, isn't it?

Do you know the name or kuid number of the problem loco??

Bob

Hi Bob. The name of the ones I have tried are the BR 9f 2-10-0
and the other is an A3 4-6-2. I have had a look at the config file for the 9f[note, Im learning] but dont really know what Im looking for. Cheers

Maybe you are not using the correct cab controls? The keyboard shortcuts you need are below:

Blower up: N
Blower down: Ctrl+N

Injector up: I
Injector down: O
Injector 2 up: Ctrl+I
Injector 2 down: Ctrl+O

Hope this helps!

Also remember that the injector and blower controls are analogue, meaning the more you press the key the greater the flow.

Thanks for that. I was unaware of it but it works and although I had to press both injector 'keys about 15 times each, had enough water to complete the journey. [ Class C with a BR 9f] This must be unique to S & C? Totally different to the US and NZR locos where all you need to do is to move the mouse in or out to turn the injectors on/off. Do you also have a key that can be used to close the firebox door instead of using the mouse? Cheers

Thanks Brian. I've printed it off and will use it to run it again.
Although it reached Carlisle, I was an hour and 5 mins late and was down to 2 mph at one stage! It was quite a learning curve. Do the cab controls of the 4-6-2 and the other locos in S & C operate in the same manner?
Cheers

There was a change to the way the injectors work from TC3 onwards - they have to have at least 4 steps and all the locos I did have this. Even if the 9F has 15 all you need to do is simply hold the key down until the injector is fully open, you don't need to press the key 15 times...
