Hi , When I try to run the program after downloading the S&C expansion for Trainz it jut keeps saying the the publisher is not recognised. I jut press run anyway but will not install.I am running Trainz 12 on Windows 8. Can anyone help Thanks

Direct the install to either 2010 or 2012. It should ask whether you want to install as a stand alone or not.
You need to add the serial number, start trainz, options, general, add serial number.
Also maybe add it to your registered versions at auran.
Windows 8 might be an issue as well, check the forum, someone's just gone back to win7.

Are you running it as an .exe file . If you don't see the snc_installer.exe then that could be your problem, but I have no idea how to fix that in windose8

Elaine - This is a known problem to many on the Forum but N3V does not seem to have picked up on it yet. If you are using IE then the files downloaded from Simulator Central fail to be given an extension because Windows does not find a valid digital signature in the file. As a result Windows does not know how to handle the file. You need to find where the file was save to, and rename it by adding the extension .exe to the end of the filename, double clicking on the file now should result in it running correctly.

I know this has been commented on before but is this a new problem as I have most of the DLC from N3V and have never come across this problem.

Good Morning All
This is a known issue for some customers using Internet Explorer, however we have not yet found a fix for it. If your installer is missing the '.exe' extension, then please right click on the file, then click on 'rename', then add .exe to the end of the name.

Regards

Is the exe missing or just not showing. I always show filename extentions and use IE but have never encountered this problem.

I always have show filename extensions on, the extension is missing. At the end of downloading the file IE gives a warning that the file cannot be validated and may harm your computer which is why no file extension is added to the downloaded file, but it is saved. My antiviral software has no problem with the file which it checks at the end of downloading and says it is safe.

Probably an attempt by Microsoft to stop people using any software not approved by them or more malware paranoia, probably a setting somewhere to stop that happening. Not sure which version exactly as I don't use any of them but whatever the latest one is.

Use Chrome instead of Internet Exploder, and your problems will go away, plus your browsing will be much faster and bug free,
