Routes for TRS09

I Dont know what is going on but it still wont work. Does anybody have a screen shot on what to do i mean i did what i was told to do and still nothtin that i have downloaded works

What you need to do is take the time to read the instructions. MANY of the questions you are asking here and on the other board would be answered if you did and you could spend more time playing Trainz than asking so many basic questions about it.

Ok when i click on the route in CM2 then right click download then i let it download, But then it says serching and after it gets done the route will still not run.

After it is done searching, did you click start to let it begin downloading? It will search first and only start downloading when you tell it to.

After the download is done, did you check to make sure everything you downloaded was committed? That is what the Open For Edit tab is for.

Sometimes missing dependencies are not on the Download Station. You may have to find third third party sites and download those CDPs separate.

For instance the missing kuids you posted earlier are missing kuid's starting with 71619. Those are vegetation by Trunda available here:

http://www.greenery.name/mstsg/mstsgd.htm?trainz,1

After you download these to a folder of your choice, you will need to import them into CMP. From CMP click file, import CDP and navigate to where you downloaded these CDPs to. Highlight them and click O.K.. After they are imported, click Open For Edit to make sure they are committed. If not, highlight them all, right click and select commit. They won't show until you import and commit them, that is true for everything you download.

Seems like a lot but once you get used to it its not that bad.

Dave......

Just to let you know that it gets easier the more often you do it. I mean getting a route with all of it's dependencies. Many route creators use the same objects over and over. Once you have them installed, they will be available for all future routes that also use them. :D

As for Trainz, people have been using various versions for years and we still discover new aspects, especially on the creating side of things. Both making routes in Surveyor and creating new objects to use in Trainz. :)

Ok so now i got alot less of stuff for this route now what do i need to do to find the rest of the stuff.

It's all on the DLS.

If CM tells you 'Unknown Location <Kuid2:123:456:1>' the content may or may not be on the DLS, but if CM tells you what the asset is it MUST be on the DLS, there is no other way for CM to identify it.

Evaluating why your CM won't download iy is a whole other tub of grease, but the content is on the DLS...

Andy :)

ROFLMAO.... Welcome to the wonderful, WEIRD world of Trainz! As I have said before, I am firmly convinced that you can install the same copy of Trainz software on two identical computer systems and get two totally different results. Probable from two slightly different voltages going to the same type of video card. :o

PS: Did you get my email BNSF650?

I sent you a private message.

Hi Andy --

BNSF650 has been running a similar thread over at train-sim with the heading "Why is it so hard".

After a couple of rounds of skirmishing I came to a similar conclusion as you.

For anyone interested, this was my final response:
_____

OK.

I'm assuming that you have correctly set up your password to access the Download Station?

There are several ways to download material.

One way:

1. Double click on the Trainz2009 icon on your desktop.
2. Select "Content". Content Manager will open.
3. Go to the Download Station here
http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php
4. Under "Trainz Versions" make sure there is a tick against "TRS2004".
5. In the "Text Search" box type "DowntownTractionCo" and click on "Search".
6. In the new screen under the thumbnail click on "Download (Helper)".
7. Go back to Content Manager.
8. In the Download Helper pane (top left) you should now find "DowntownTractionCo".
9. Click "Start" and it should download with all its dependencies.

Not too hard so far?

10. When finished, in the "Search" pane (middle left) use Location = Local, Built-in = False and Category = Routes.
11. If "DowntownTractionCo" has a "?" against it it is missing dependencies.
12. If it has a "?" against it, drag it into the Search pane and click start. Any missing dependencies should download.

Easy?

13. As a final check use Location = Local, Built-in = False and again see if there are any "?" for any of the sub-dependencies of dependencies needed by the route.

Phil

Edit - you will probably need to run the route in Compatibility Mode. This is accessed from the Options menu, top left of the screen in Surveyor or Driver.
