What a great new asset. The rotary car dumper by Bendorsey.
I have it set up by trial and error but something is not working correctly.
He said to read the read me file to set it up, but I haven't the slightest idea how to find the file. This old timer could use some help to locate this file.:)

Take a look on the dls and you can find it right away. Maybe someone can help us out to set it up the correct way.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Bob

Did you look in the same folder where the config file is located?

Using Content Manager, highlight Ben's asset then right click, move your cursor to Edit and select Edit in Explorer

Thanks Dap and Phil

Dap I looked in the config file but maybe I missed the instructions.
Phil I think I may have it set up correctly and just did not know how to operate the system properly. I will go back and download your instructions now and set it up. And your right the sounds are fantastic.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Dap
I did find the readme file where you told me it was:o
I'm always in such a hurry that I miss half of what I'm looking for when ever I'm reading something. I guess my wife is right:)
Now I'll remember where to look for the files.

Phil

Thanks for the nice instructions and session on the rotary dumper.
All is working great now. I had it set up ok, but I was not operating the train correctly.
Great new operating asset by Bendorsey.

Thanks to both of you.

Hi Guys:

Glad you like it. Dale and I started on it sometime between Holloween and Thanksgiving last year. Twas a serious "work-in-progress" for some time. 5 % me (making and animating it) 95% Dale (scripting and tweaking the sound effects).

Before I forget. I accidently left two developmental event files in the folder. It will work ok with them there as they were not the ones cited when exporting the animation but if you would like to delete them they are called event.evt and event01.evt. Do not delete rotarycardumper.evt. Thats the correct one.

There are 2 more RCD's in the series. Number 2 is done - just waiting for Dales ok to upload it. Number three will be a bit as we (mostly Dale) has to change the script file a bit. It will be part of a kick-back-dumper and setup to fill one of Vulcans interactive barges.

Enjoy,

Ben

Hi Ben --

I seem to remember a thread about dumpers way back some time ago. I'm glad that it has all come to fruition.

This might be a tall order, but would it be possible to make the dumpers handle three products - coal, iron ore and woodchips?

Phil

Hi Phil:

If I remember correctly this all started because someone posted a photo of a rotary dumper on Forum. It got me to thinking so I took a screenshot and printed it out. I put a few questions on Forum so thats probably where you remember it from. This wasn't particularly difficult to make (in Gmax). The animation is a bit more then I had done before because there were 5 different things to animate. Two doors, two gears, and the drum. Linking helped a bit there but as you can guess it certainly didn't work right on the first attempt(s).

The big task was Dales. Writing the script to make it operationally easy (translation = foolproof) to use. That took literally months of banging ones head against the wall, tearing hair out, etc but Dale is one heck of a scripter so here it is.

From the response it was definately worth the effort. Many thanks,

EDIT: Just realized I forgot to reply to the multiple product question. I might make separate versions later for iron ore but woodchips, lol??? Dale and I discussed making it multi-product but frankly things like this were pretty much limited to coal and iron plus the script is complex enough as it is. He can chime in here if he wants on this subject.

Ben & Dale,

Congratulations on a fantstic achievement. I gave it a test run and found that once I understood the bell signals, it works like it should. This is a great asset to have for the Trainz community. Thanks for your efforts.

David

Great stuff !

I love the "Round One" bell sound !

The Rotary Unloader, Kick Back Dumper, Gantry Unloader, and Hulett Unloader are pretty cool animated assets.

bendorsey: You are with out doubt one of the best content creators for trainz..Thank you for your contributions..

I know he has made a zillion assets for the DLS, and especially trestles, but I have one request: an incredibly high "Wooden Timber Trestle Spline" that is say, an astronomical 20 or more stories tall.

I once had a NG route that was a shear rock cliff face with a seemingly neverending switchback of spindly towering trestles...but I can't find that route again.

There is a Cincysouthern C&O route that was from MR Trackplans 101...and I believe he had Bendorsey's kickback dumper and rotary on it...but alas his route shows up faulty: "No Map Selected".

Thank You for all you have created for trainz !

Thanks all:

If you have a photo or drawing of that incredibly tall trestle I can make it for you.

BTW - - - there will be more then 3 versions of the RCD. I made RCD 4 yesterday and have at least 3 (possibly 5) more ideas. All use the same drum assy but have the approach sections done differently. 1 (possibly 2) might even be done as a spline so curved approach sections are possible.

Finally Dale and I have at least 3 (possibly 5) more creations in the works that are heavily animated with smoke and sound effects (but ya'll just gonna have to wait, lol).

I would also like to add my thanks for a well done asset. For those would who are lest inclined to set the RD on your layout, there is a one board version on the DLS, just merge it to your layout the copy and paste to a location on your layout, then delete the merged board. Thanks again Ben & Dale.
