Rockwood, PA

Do the trains pass through here frequently, and if so, how often? I would like to know as every August the Family reunion is held here, so I might be able to do some railfanning. Also, is this the place where the Sand Patch Grade starts, I was looking on Google Maps for train tracks, and I saw 2 engines parked on a wye, near a small facility. I think this is the helper track. Am I right? Also, do trains go frequently thru Mckeesport and Somerset?

I thought it was B&O? I read somewhere that someone saw 2 morning trains and 3 afternoon, this seems pretty accurate but I wanted others opinions.

It could be. But 5 trains a day is not a lot, but might be interesting. They'll probably be coal trains though.

Oh well, I am not a very formal railfan and sometimes just am interested in the power.

Same here and not a rivet counter either. :)

I do like rail history though and feel sad when I see lines ripped up sometimes for no good reason other than NIMBYs not wanting service. This happens way too often where I live.
