Hi everybody.
I am afraid I must respectfully request that all forum members immediately cease to refer or compare the true game of football with other “subordinate sport” which have the word “football” in their title. There is only one true sport of football , that being the game referred to by Pfx in his near treacherous posting at #20 of this thread as “round ball football” or known by the former colonials as soccer.
In the above, it must always be remembered that any sport which has a prefix before the word football entered into its title is not true football in any sense of the word. Football, or to use its title as known and loved here in United Kingdom, “the beautiful game” is the unchallenged ultimate in world sports. Within that supreme amongst all other football clubs engaged in this heavenly body is the name, Manchester United. Its players, coaching staff and supporters (of which the latter I am humbly proud to be numbered as one of) are the unparalleled club and embodiment of all that is great in our beautiful game.
Nothing can compare in any sport with the excitement of managing to obtain tickets to the ManU’ Cathedral of football home ground known as “old Trafford”. To be there among the 70,000 crowd on match day, sat with the “chosen” in the Alex Ferguson stand is the embodiment of all you work and strive for in life. To then watch those eleven saints of the world’s greatest spectacle wipe the floor with any who dare to besmirch the hallowed ground by attending with challenge and support for a subordinate football club name.
Match day attendance at Manchester United befits everything life has to offer. To leap up from your seat and verbally abuse the referee when as always a wrongful decision is given against our beloved Man U team. To up two fingers to the opposition supporters when their goal is disallowed, which is as always is the correct decision. To sing and chant and even hug the wife until once again the overwhelming victory is won and the opponents leave the pitch and stadium their heads hung low for even daring to think that anything could be gained from their attendance at our blessed ground.
You leave at peace with the world, where nothing matters but those glorious thoughts and memories of yet another great match and day, where even the frustrations of T:ane pale into insignificance.
Therefore, as stated please do not compare any other sport with genuine football or what is known as the beautiful game. Failure in the foregoing request will mean I shall be forced to report the matter to the forum moderators requesting that those engaged in the above receive a lifetime ban from the forum.:hehe:
