Restart saved session--loco no go...

Hi all;

TRS2006
Running a session in Philskene's Downtown Traction Co.
As I go about completing various tasks I will perform frequent "saves" so that if catastrophe strikes, I can reload the last "save" and continue.
In this case I had about 8 or 9 "saves" when I had to quit out of Trainz for awhile.
Now we come to the problem:
At a later time, I went back into Trainz, went to "saved sessions", reloaded the last save and everything is just as I had left it--except the locomotive is totally "dead". The DCC speed control has no effect, the lights don't work, etc.
This is also the case if I reload any of the prior "saves" for this session.
If I quit out of the "save" and go back to routes and restart the original session, it works fine. If I now do some new test "saves" and quit and reactivate the new "save" it works OK. But those other non-operable "saves" stubbornly refuse to operate; and so all my good work is lost :(

I know this is probably not a fair question; but is this a known malfunction and was there any thing I could have done to recover my status ?

I have "run" many of Philskene's routes and have encountered this only once before many months back.

I have experienced considerable pleasure via Philskene's artistry; I'll continue on to the remaining sessions --past experience would indicate that the problem will not re-occur again on this route.

Hi Ray --

Thanks for those kind comments.

I've found with some combinations of Euro-locomotives and rolling stock that it is impossible to move the locomotive when reloading the sesion after a save. Exactly the symptons you describe.

There is a solution, inconvenient though it may be - detach the locomotive from the rolling stock before saving. I know its a bummer, but it seems to work.

Why it only happens with European locomotives is beyond me. Could it be that the braking code used in the simulation is slightly different? Dunno.

Tell me if this helps.

Heya,

Yep - Ive had some problems with this too! Phils suggestion was also going to be my own - very good advice :D

However - are you sure re-loading Trainz won't help? That happens to me alot and sometimes Phils suggestion works - sometimes its just a re-boot of Trainz thats needed :hehe:

Good luck ;)

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Phil, I'll try uncoupling the loco before saving as you suggest-at least for routes with European content in the consists.

The dead loco has all it's wheels.

I did try restarting Trainz and also rebooted the computer but to no avail.

This malfunction appears to be both rare and random- so if the "fix" does it's magic, I'll be blissfully unaware. :)
