Reserved KUIDs on Content Manager/DLS

Is there a purpose for reserving KUIDs on the DLS? Is there a limit to how many can be reserved?

I see that stuff , and N3V staff deliberately ignoring it, while spending time encouraging us to purchase their addons. It is not as if they are unaware. They do know what is happening and choose to ignore it. Based upon this willful ignorance will we see the same behavior in the new product?

If this was one of the hundreds of silly games I would just erase it. However, I really like Trainz and find it upsetting to see blatant misuse of the database which begins to open doors as children to rightfully assume they can do almost anything with that database. TANE could quickly loose its appeal if the database fills up with hundreds of weird routes, reserved KUIDs and just plain junk.

Good Morning All
We are aware of this, however we have not yet been able to look into this fully. We will be looking into the 'reserved' assets this week, however this will depend on our team being able to devote the time to it away from other tasks.

Regards

All due respect Zec, but it took me all of 30 seconds to download one asset and examine it...only to find it is a single rail car "consist" file, which in turn, forced a dependency download.

This is not a "new" issue, it is simply a different user doing it.

I think what is most irritating, is N3V's outright refusal to dedicate more time to EXISTING DLS infrastructure. I "get" life cycle policy for Trainz software, but seriously, come on, the DLS is the essential BACKBONE of the Trainz franchise. THE Database. Do you guys really not see the importance of getting the DLS straightened out, in a quick-fast manor?

Pardon, but whats goin on? Reserved KUIDs? By who? For who?

Thanks
Falcus

It's something that happens from time to time. Seems to be Russian users using the "reserved" thing. All it really is is a form of DLS spam, although, conceivably, it could be used to bypass the multiplayer requirement that all content be on the DLS i.e. by substituting the "reserved" DLS content with something else after-the-fact. I reported this last week along after another spam incident took place, which N3V took care of quickly.

Let's give them a little time before complaining.

So are they reserving Author KUIDs? or are they reserving KUID Spaces on the DLS? I'm guessing the latter? ANd I can't imagine why... I DO know that "Reserving Internet Space" seems to be something of a Russian National Industry, in some misaligned Idea that somehow they can profit from it later (All because one dude 20 years ago nabbed a few Domain names for big companies and demanded a huge pay out and got it), but last I knew N3V doesn't pay anybody anything for anything on the DLS regardless....

This whole thing seems silly to me, but whatever,
Falcus
