Removing Steam Effects From Paulz Trainz Locomotives

hoborailcat

Backdating is fun.
I've been purchasing locomotives from Paulz Trainz for years. I think they are made very well. The one thing about them that gets to me, though, is the large amount of steam that gushes from the cylinders when the engines are in motion. I'm just wondering, does anyone know what to remove in the config file in order to get this effect to stop?

I haven't looked at his config files, but I'm thinking that you need to look at the smoke tags and look for the tags with the following attachment points

a.steam.l
a.steam.r
a.steam.cyltft
a.steam.cyrtft

I believe those are the tags that control what you're talking about.

His seems a bit different. They're all numbered, like a.smoke.0 and a.smoke.1 and so on. Oh well, it's not like it makes the engine un-useable. Anyway, thanks for the tip.

Have a look with Pev's mesh viewer tool and it should show the attachment points. Then in the config.txt file you can reduce the amount of steam that comes out of the particular attachment point.
