Removing invisible items

I know this is a "Duh, ya think" comment, but I am trying to delete an invisible station and can't find it. (I guess because it is invisible - told ya it was a "duh" question.) I used the "find" to locate where it is supposed to be on the map, but when I look, there there is no indication it is anywhere around. I am running 2006 under XP with the sp1 installed. The station shows on the "Driver Command" but when it is assigned, the driver says there is no way to get there. I just want to get rid of them - Now there are five - Don't ask! It is too frustrating.

What I did to remove an invisible asset was use the Find feature to get the general area it was located, then with the asset selection tab open for the category, used the Grab tool and clicked randomly until it identified the asset, then I noted the spot and switched to Delete and finally got rid of it.

Hope there is a better way someone can provide, but that's the best I could come up with when I needed to remove an invisible item. Good luck.

Maybe it's just me... but the invisible item I needed to remove had no attachment points. Or if it had attachment points, the asset was beneath the visible ground on the layout I changed. Makes it hard to find that way.

Same Experience as above

I am having the same experience. There seemed to be no ends or any other way to identify the invisible items. I also tried to find them and clicked around but was never able to locate them.

If you know what it is, how about just replacing with a visible object? 2009 has this capability built-in. You can use TO to do it to 2004. Not sure about 2006 or Classics.

Some 'invisible' assets, or assets that are below the base level, can be seen in Surveyor by clicking on the Wireframe View icon (or press F9). You can usually delete it then.

Hi every one,

There is an easy way to delete rouge object assets that are extremely difficult to target.
Go to 'Tools' (F5) and Copy and Paste. Disable 'Paste height' and 'Paste textures' then select an area of the map with no objects and Paste that over the area with the rouge object and it will delete all existing objects.

However Chas58 you may have a bug where only part of an asset has been deleted i.e an asset is made of objects, splines and track and only the object part has been deleted, try clicking 'Delete spline' and 'Delete track' all around the problem area.

Hope that helps,
Lindsay

This approach worked in my case. The invisible station turned out to have an multiple erors. When I went to wire frame, the item was a very small translucent square.

BTW, in this case the disable/delete was not effective.

Thanks to the forum for your help.

This process worked for my hidden object which resisted other clickin around it. Was a portal.:D

What I did (TS2009, but I think it will work for TS2006) is in CMP, create a back-up of the asset you want to remove. Then delete the asset from the database. This will only work for assets not built in, as you cannot delete built-in.

Once the asset is deleted in CMP, go back into TS, and use the "Delete missing assets" function.

I do not think that just disabling the asset in CMP will do anything. Disabling only makes the asset no longer available in the Surveyor menu, but does not remove it from the route.

I had this happen with some signals just yesterday. According to the Find list, they were there, but I couldn't find them. They were not supposed to be invisible.
I ended up having to do what I suggested above, and it worked.
