As a follow-up to my previous thread. (And I did expect the reaction wouldn't be genuinely sour)

So in the end. No! These model will continue to be private and only release on discord as they've always been.
I'll show them here and there, but links to file will remain between me, my discord friends, and the people in those servers.

As for the implications.
Mr. Valliant 2995valliant did Not! Encourage to release these models.
The conversation I had with him in the DMs gave me a new perspective. That "maybe" I can release these models. All of that was my decision with some motivation from those conversations (talking to trainz veteran can give you a new perspective on something)
Valliant never said "go release these models" No! Absolutely not. (TLDR don't get the wrong idea)
But I didn't want to risk at all, so that's why I created the previous thread, Which is now because duh.
So again. These models will remain private
 
Despite how young I am.
I know laws exist and copyright is a thing
And MSTS conversions (especially ones converted without permission) are generally frowned upon in the wider trainz community
But I didn't know the full extent so I want to see it firsthand. And... Yep these will not be ejected into public place
And will stay on my hard drive. And friend circle for the foreseeable future

Want to follow the law? Don't release them.
Want to break the law and as a bonus get banned right away? Go and release them.

As long as it hasn't been 75 years ago, I think this could have been the shortest topic ever.

Locked as there really isn't much to discuss other than "do I want to do something illegal or not".

After locking this topic, I was contacted by 2995Valliant. I totally can see how the above might result in people thinking it was his suggestion to make the above MSTS...

And to the wider Trainz Community. This is all my decision. Valliant was only an inspiration for me, Not an encouragement.
Play it safe, learn from past mistakes, you'll be a better content creator and part of the community as a result

I'm aware. Believe me when I first got into this with the DSB P 906 I have no intention on releasing it. But my friends and the people on discord demand, And now I'm here.
I always wanted to get into MSTS conversion because the topic really fascinates me. But I never expect that so many other people would also be interested.
 
And I'm not converting every MSTS steam locomotive model. No! That would be borderline impossible and insane.
Just ones I found interesting or don't have a trainz counterpart. If it exist it's either payware, looks awful because of age, impossible to find and obtain.
Like the V4.

Aside from the other obvious problems you’ve already mentioned, another thing you may not realize is that ripping models is not exactly a huge service. It’s not that hard to create your own content. Actually, that’s kind of the thing that makes Trainz so special, the reason many of us are here. Instead of multiple posts about something most people here would find unmentionable, and definitely not something to brag about, you could be sharing something that is both valuable and creative. Wouldn’t that be more worthy of your time and effort?

They are not the ones taking the risk of copyright violations. Just because someone wants you to do something (often for their own benefit, not yours) is no valid reason to do it.

"I didn't intend to rob the bank your honour but my friends said I should do it because they needed the money". An extreme example I know but the principle is the same.

As @PerRock points out above, posting the files on Discord is still a copyright violation.

Anyway I hope that we have all gained a lesson from this.

It is not that I don't know how make custom models. I do, I use Blender
But the issue is time constraints. I'm still study. And time is not a luxury in this chapter of life.
But in the future. once I left, found a job, actually have some time on my hands I might make fully original models of my MSTS converted locos.
(Not a promise, just possible goal in the future)
But yes. When you make something that is fully "your creation" no outstanding involvement. It is truly rewarding.

Maybe wait till you have time to make something of your own and then start your Forum posting career with something positive. I’m sure people would actually appreciate that and give positive feedback.

I don't consider this a career. Just a hobby.
Model development is slow but when you reach the end of the tunnel. It's something you should really be proud of
MSTS conversions are only a getaway and "side hassle" for me. Something I can do in between huge projects that gets the discord people involved

For me is learning how taboo and sensitive MSTS conversion is, as a topic in the community really is
Which is: big No. No.

I made the right call to not release the files right away. And instead made it a social experiment.
Something I can back away from, if the opinion doesn't align

*Context:
previously I only know that MSTS conversions tend to have mixed opinions
But now with the social experiment over. if it's unauthorized (without permission from the original author) do not! release them under any circumstances. You'll immediately get shipped to Gulag or Florida. (Joke)

Making things crystal clear:
Again going forward I'll post pics of them alongside other original projects i have in the works. Just... Don't expect a release. Or file links.
Those are sentence to be stuck within a specific circle and nothing outside of that.
