Reinstalling TRS2004 on new computer.

When i purchased a new computer recently i decided to start from scratch again with TRS2004 so i loaded it from my original disc i bought so many years ago but when i went to the DLS station and tried to download some content,it connected but then went to "IDLE" with the message no content to download.
Does the disc only allow you only one install and not let you install any more content and is there a way to get around this.
The computer is running Windows 7 and i have a First Class Ticket.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hi,

You should be able to install many times (remember that your Planet Auran username & password are needed to link your copy with the DLS).

IIRC (been a long time since I used 2004) - you'll need to install the service patches with the virus protection off (and the main install).

I'd suggest that your problem lies in the OS/Virus checker which inn't allowing the access through the firewalls.
It may be necessary to run Trainz with "Administrator" rights as well.

As Colin said, you need to do the install for BOTH the TRS04 program and any service packs you have in that order and without running the program between, with virus checker temporarily disabled. The latest service pack for 04 is SP4 and I believe that installing this one will be all you need as it is a cumulative addition.

Russell.

If you had copied you "Local" file to an external hard drive, you could place that copy of the "local" file, in place of the reinstallation local file, then you will not lose all your routes and assets, requiring starting all over again form scratch.

Still not fixed but am still working on it.
Looks to be a problem with Windows 7 and 2004.
I have seen the thread by robin hoods about this problem and i am following that up.

Cheers,
Dave.
