reinstall

I had to reinstall TS12 but I tried to install patches it says I have to have windows XP service pack 3 installed. I have windows 7 installed. I have reinstalled several times before but never got that notice.

I assume, based on your veteran status and extensive list of registered products, that you know to run everything as administrator and take full control of the Trainz install directory. You should also make sure your DirectX, OpenGL, and .NET framework are up to date.

That particular message can crop up if you are using XP SP2 compatibility mode in the Properties box - if you are, turn that option off.

I am using windows 7 so the XP service pack shouldn`t make any difference.I am wondering if it is my external harddrive. I installed both versions with same result. I uninstaaled the copy i had on c drive and that one will patch

there is nothing under properties about compatability

There is, actually.

If you right-click on the installer, there is a properties... thing at the bottom. When this opens up, there is a compatibility settings tab. Ensure here that Windows XP is not chosen.

In the event that it is not checked, try running the patch again as administrator. Right-click on the patch installer again and choose Run as Administrator. You will receive a prompt confirming this is what you want, and the installer will run after that.
