reinstall error

I started to install 2006 . got a message saying i should download latest motherboard files. I gave dell gx269 2.,4 gig speed, 1 gig ram,, 80 gig hard drive, 128 rage ati video card.
so i hit the cancel button on the install program. when i try to install again i get and error that says install is alredy running. went to services so no install file. went to regedit RUN or RNONCe anddso no install going on. how to i get rids of partial install and start over?

Hi Paul,

It sounds like you have a rouge registry entry or something similar causing the problem. You could either try a programme like Winoptimiser or something like that which will remove orphaned registry entries or an easier option, if you are using Windows XP, is to do a system restore to a point before you original attempted to install the game
