REDBIRDS

Big question here. Is it possible to not only purchase like 10 or 11 redbirds, but run on the NYC subway as a fan trip? P.s. For this thread everyone her can talk about redbirds here.

Well all I can tell you is the fact is that the cars cost any where from $107,157-$110,563. By the way here is a way to tell the diffrences between the cars, R26: 7750-7859, R28:7860-7959, R29: 8570-8805, R33ML: 8806-9305, R33WF: 9306-9345, R36WF: 9346-9523, R36ML: 9524-9557, R36WF: 9558-9769. Those who don't know or forgot the WF stands for World Fair and ML stands for MainLine.

:) :) :) :)

Those cars have already been reefed except for a few (and the Destination Signs). So, it probably wouldn't be possible.

Yeah. There might not be enough redbirds left for personal purchase. Most of them are work trains o are on display at schools or museums. I had one in my old high school.

I found two R28s,two R29s,two R36WFs,and five more R36WFs that are the possible ones to be purchased. The pairs of R28s, R29s, and R36WFs have been on the property since 2004 and so far there hasn't been any activities with them. Plus The five othe R36WFs are being used for rail adhesion and the five are operational.

I read that all cars after the R32 were made from stainless steel. So if you're talking about the R33WFs and R36WFs I don't get it.

The R33/36 orders were placed before the R32 order, despite having higher numbers. All B division cars were mainly made from stainless steel after the R32's (I believe the R44's "stripe" area wasn't stainless, hence all the rusting problems they have). The A division wouldn't see stainless until the R62's.

you can do whatever you want if you have the money. I suggest being adopted by some one who owns an oil company.

Two things not mentioned that older NYC subway cars always had.
1 - People looking for money.
2 - BO especially in summer.
:hehe:

Do you guys think they'll use these for fantrips? These are from the Unionport yard and the cars are R26,R28,R29 with an R33ML making an appearance in the first one.
