Real or Fictional in Trainz

When my nephew was young, he loved the wood block trains in the program. He played that for hours. Now he is older, he still enjoys Trainz. To exclude any of the Thomas, MLP or any other "kiddie" themes on purpose would be detrimental. That is what kids enjoy and if it draws them to Trainz I feel its a plus. May build a lifetime fascination with trains in general as they grow. I have no need to have MLP in the game, if it is, I just wont use it. Simple as that. Just as I have no need for European models, I just dont use it. I would rather a kid play MLP in Trainz then a violent video game any day. If they want to discuss it on the forums, so be it. I just wont read those posts.

The fascinating thing about hobbies is they can be used to help the younger ones grow. We as a community should embrace that opportunity rather then exclude those interested in things we find childish.

Thank you sparky15. That, right there, is a prime example of someone who wouldn't leave bad remarks on posts, or because one likes MLP, Thomas, or any other child-ish thing that is/can be put in Trainz. We all have our differences, and no 2 people are the same.

And what has this got to do with the topic.

I have a route that I have made fictional from a DEM based real route - I have done my local mothballed rail branch but with over head wiring for electric traction - mixing my two favs my local line and the sparkies.

What does that have to do with drawing younger users to Trainz?

But is not the topic of the thread real or fictional trainz = drawing younger people into trainz is a whole diffrent topic and therefore should have a whole diffirent thread.

I was putting an answer to the question that was asked in post one.

A handful of other members have brought this up before, so this is not my idea. But I strongly feel the absolutely fix-all solution to this conundrum that has been plaguing the forums for a while now (and I'm being serious), is for a separate board called Fantasy. Folks like Zelda and Ruvan can hang out and play with all the "fictional" Trainz they want without anyone bugging them. Meanwhile folks who don't like Fantasy stuff simply don't enter said board.

It'll be very clear then, if a troll or annoyist enters the Fantasy board and moans about the stuff there, that he is simply looking for trouble.

Like it or not, so long as people of opposing views go up against each other, there will be conflict.

Plaguing the forum? Explain that please. The fix all is for you not to control access to a forum because you dont like what another has posted and cant keep yourself from reading it. Conflicting views is garbage. Thats you imposing your view on another. Nothing more. Start your own forum where you can hang out and filter all you cant keep yourself from reading. Heaven forbid you might use the mouse button to click on something that might upset your little world

The topic of this thread is fictional trains. Not what you made up in a route.

Posts like yours. That's what's plaguing this forum.

Going by your superior intelligent logic, we should combine all our boards into one gigantic Everything thread instead, because god forbid we can't filter out the stuff that we're not looking to read. Do tell? Yea I'll tell you exactly what; people like you who, instead of sitting down and thinking out things in a calm manner, lash out and attack anyone who doesn't agree.

Did I want all fantasy stuff removed? Banned? Disallowed? Clamped down on? Did I say "no fantasy stuff here, keep that on your own forum". Oh wait. You did.

Most people don't want to have to sort through the garbage to get to the good threads, take a look at Train-Sim, UKTS or any of the other big train sim boards and you won't see any of this MLP/Thomas/Codesomethingortheother nonsense taking up space. I think a fantasy section would be beneficial to both sides, most regular Trainz users have no interest in MLP and it seems the MLP/other fantasy stuff crowd has no interest in real railroads.

Like I said before. MLP can stay on Equestria Daily. Thomas can stay on SI3D. Code Lyoko can stay on wherever. Same with everything else.

Goodness this has gone downhill fast, what are we even arguing about? I think people should be able to use Trainz for whatever they wish, but have a bit of respect to know that not everyone enjoys the same things and not try to force it on everyone.

On the other hand, everyone else needs to understand that the ultimate goal of this game is enjoyment, if Thomas or other fictional stuff is what makes it fun, so be it, just leave them alone and let them have fun.
