On this site http://ptram.eu/download.php?news_page=4&category=2 I got a Kreigslocomotive, but it is a RAR file, and since trainz 12 only accepts CDP files, I am at a stump, what do I do?

You need to use something like WinRAR or 7zip to extract the .rar file to get access to the cdp file. Using .rar or .zip helps cut down on file size so it's an attractive option for Trainz sites.

No, download the file then extract the .cdp from the .rar file with 7zip or another option.

Web sites generally have limited bandwidth and when you download a file the web site owner pays one way or another. By compressing the file size this both speeds up the time it takes to download and reduces the cost to the web site.

jatws.org uses .7z and it can cut the file size in half. Also .cdp files do not have a check digit and may get corrupted as you download them. .7z, .rar, and even .zip contain check digits so you can be sure you have the entire uncorrupted file.
