well heres a thought for auran..(for steam fans to) um well since no other sim has this on the game.. why not give quillable whistles a shot? where you can do signature whistle signals at the grade crossings? and instead of it coming to a dead stop sound why not try to put echoes on there? i think that would make trainz the top dog... oh and have famous steamers built in like n&w 1218,611 frisco 1522,the sp 4449 , up 3985 & 844 ,southern 4501 ? they dont all have to be in there but there seems to be alot of steam fans that play trainz and i think it would be a huge hit..

Hi,

I am new to trainz I have ts2010ee updated etc.. can I ask you where I could find details of Superelevation in Trainz, I have had a quick look at the CCG but I can't find anything there about it, perhaps I have missed it some where?
Thank you in advance.

The angle is much too big. Most superelevation on curves is much less than that. With a big freight train, the physics of the train being pulled around the curve, would actually pull the entire train off the tracks at that angle, as the train tries to become straight.

Also, holy crap is that cab rocking back and forth a lot. It looks like your simulator cannot properly deal with the leaning of the tracks. Trainz can. It is nice and smooth.

Also, we have had superelevation for years now with the banking consists rule. Also, Gfisher has created some superelevated tracks that work, and thanks to some Russians, and also PEV, we have the ability to have consists that rock back and forth.

Oh, and as for your rain, it looks like someone put KY Jelly on the windshield. The water isnt' behaving like water. It is too viscus.

Just for that I'm throwing all your tea in the harbor again. :p

I'm kinda puzzled about the "Brand new EMD F7", best I remember the original Railworks came with Marc Nelson's F7?

Anyway, one guy was insisting the most important feature for RW was a visible animated crew inside the cab, I think he was also talking about controllable figures so you could move the arms and legs of the fireman to shovel coal or something. My all time favorite was a Brit on the STEAM forum who titled his thread "ARSE faces!!!!!!!!" which was certainly an attention getter, but his fury was apparently because neither of the included British steamers was his favorite.

Fix the core problems, make the game BETTER than the others, you draw the content creators from the others, then the developers don't need to create content because the content creators who now LIKE the game are doing that. Several Trainz and MSTS developers did create both freeware and payware for railsim/railworks, then gave up on it when it became apparent that it was never gonna be the sim they were looking for.

Hi Ikb and everybody.
How very true Bill. I got shouted down on another forum, because i questioned RSC using a US loco to demonstrate the raindrops fiasco.

I wouldn't mind if i was anti US, but i am more pro US than i am England. :hehe: :D ;)
IKB.

IKB I too wondered why rail simulator used a US locomotives in their preview of Railworks 3. After all there is very little American content in Railworks. Therefore I would think that anybody who purchased it interested in USA railways would be very disappointed.

Anyway, with your love of all things American you may be interested in a posting I have placed on the "general Trainz forum" in a thread entitled " the good old days a protest" in which I have spoken of Trainz becoming an America simulator.

No doubt we could have one of our "most respectful arguments" in that thread:D

Bill
NB:- just Thought, I am also against the electrification of the Bristol, Cardiff to Paddington line.

Oh sorry IKB that should have read Cardiff, Bristol to Paddington:D

Just seen the latest RW3 preview clip and aside from the lighting it looks as if they have addressed the night sky (i.e. it looks dark rather than twilight) and maybe the sound too, unless the clip is dubbed or enhanced in some ways.

Now here's a thing. Having spent a day or two working on my little route in TS12, came the time to take a loco along the first two km or so of sceneried track. That's where the illusion does come unstuck a bit. The cab window still has that annoying haze effect, added to which my nicely smoothed and evenly graded track in Surveyor takes on the appearance of a rollercoaster from the cab. And the distant (well, not that distant - less than 2km away) hills I took so much care in mixing a nice dun coloured texture for pop in and out from within the cab view due to the horrible built in optimisation which can't be switched off.

I might as well have built it in TRS2006 with Trainz Tuner and no forced restriction on draw distance. This feature is actually forcing the scenery to fade out at less than the current detailed draw distance (2km) in RW. Not that impressed and I think if RSC really have cracked distant mountains/scenery, notwithstanding the extra effort to paint the terrain, then it (RW3) will have the edge.

Raise your game on this aspect, N3V. I recently got Railroad Tycoon 3 running again and the distant scenery in that is better than the adaptive forced short draw distance in TS12.

Hi Vern and Everybody.
Vern,I think we all know the shortcomings of Trainz regarding draw distance etc and therefore those of us with Railworks await the release of RW 3 with great anticipation am baited breath.

I will make only one prediction prior to the September release. Either that all the Trainz folders will be in the recycle bin and we shall all be over there simply because it is all they have pitched it to be.

Or, all the Railworks folders will be in the recycle bin and we shall all be over here simply because it is very much not all they have pitched it to be.

Elation and disappointment can be very powerful emotions. However they can sometimes have a similar outcome.

Bill:D

Considering the difference in AI traffic and signaling I think Railroad Tycoon has a better chance than RailDon'tWorks of actually becoming a train simulator. :hehe:

And we do not all live in America or want all American stock

Bill
And others want neither British or American. There is a whole world out there with lots of different trains. The way some of the fanboys in both camps go on about their side, you'd think other countries didn't have trains at all or only had a few minor examples.

Hi Everybody.
Who is "we all"? pluralis maiestatis?

Perhaps geophil had you quoted the entire text from my posting other forum members would have been aware that it was an attempt at humor aimed at all those who own RW 2. There seems to be a diminishing number of forum members who possess the humor sensitivity and I am sorry that you are not one of those.

please accept my sympathies

Bill

I believe martinvk that my posting you referred to did not say I wanted all British content. I was simply replying to an American forum member who requested that at least six American steam locomotives should be included in the core version of Trainz.

With regard to having more European content in Trainz them perhaps Martinz Trainz workshop can produce the desired content for us all to enjoy as payware or freeware.

Right now the main workshop is still tooled for track guides and other miscellaneous track stuff. The wheel shop was recently working on a 1067mm bogey for a special project. The body shop is also busy on a special project. :)

Don't give them ideas... RRT3 gets around trains colliding by the simple expedient of having the lower priority train fade out, while the higher priority one (or one with the most valuable cargo) passes through it. That said, I have observed a similar effect in Zusi on a route where the signalling was less than perfect, head on with an opposing train but instead of lots of grinding metal and shuffling off on white wings to the virtual railroad in the sky (oh alright then, black wings to the subway), the two trains just passed through each other without incident.

There is an axiom for finite systems with shared resources like railways. They are stable as long as system load is beneath a certain threshold. If load increases the system becomes unstable. Instability means either deadlock or loss. No third option. For the prototype loss has to be prevented by all means. Not so for the simulation. If a deadlock occurs - bad dispatching due to inferior working timetable - the simulation could remove trains to resolve the deadlock, which is, of course, loss. That's what Zusi does. (And that's different to the transparent head-on collision caused by bad signalling.)

I just purchased Railworks 2 with the Free up grade to TRS2012 which is the main reason i purchased railworks2. I completely dislike the 'feeling' of how they try miserably to create a 8000 ton train. the physics and game play of railworks 2 completely blows my mind. Waiting patiently for the free download to 2012

Best Regards
Mike S.
