While downloading the new Stockton, CA. route - on the DLS, I looked at the real Stockton Railroad site.
There I found a Glossary of railroad terms that might be useful to some.

The site also has lots of other data useful for understanding rail operations. You may want to
incorporate some of it into your route.

Always interested in railroad terms, as their might be one I didn't know.

Here's their definition of "station"
A place designated in the timetable by name, at which a train may stop for traffic; or to enter or leave the main track; or from which fixed signals are operated.

I was expecting a reference to a passenger structure, but that's mentioned in the term "terminal"
