Don't be so harsh, the problems with TRS2006 and TS2009 are enough to make anyone angry enough to quit!
I don't disagree with the fact that "Trainz's" software is not perfect. I don't know what the exact percentage is, but I would guesstimate that it's as high as 40% - 50% of the so-called "Trainz's problems-faults" aren't caused by Trainz's software at all. They are probably caused by low spec'ed PC's trying to run highly detailed large routes, poor PC housecleaning habit's, faulty hardware, incorrect drivers,
system bottlenecks, impatience, registry problems, etc, etc...
Trainz's can be - is a very system hungry sim. You need a middle to top end gaming PC to run it with all the bell's & whistles on....
If anything goes wrong, too many people automatically think it's "Trainz's software" that must be faulty - causing the problem.
I run a high spec'ed gaming PC and
rarely have a problem.
(I have experienced some of the known bugs in 09, and can live with those because I know Auran is working on them).
My TRS2006 directory is now 257 gig's in size,
(yes you read right, 257gigs). I run a number of very large detailed routes with up to 30 loco's & 400-450 carriages and rarely have a problem.
I regularly download the latest downloads using CMP,
(with the occasional lock-up once every 3 or 4 months. I've learnt to live with that !!!).
If anyone should be having problems, particularly with 06, it should be me...
What's my secret ??? "none" - What's my "advice"???
Have a decent spec'ed gaming PC. One with a fast dual core processor, 3MHz or better, plenty of ram (3+gigs), middle to top end video card with atleast 512megs of ram, Trainz on a regularly defragged D:\ or E:\ drive.
Regular common sence PC housekeeping also helps....
defragging, scandisking HDD/s, registry regularly cleaned, regular updates & patches, only the absolute essential running in the background while running Trainz, etc... (oh, and learn to be patient) !!!
Getting back to being to harsh. "Maybe I was," but it was his second THREAD in 10 days about "leaving-quitting"
If someone wants to leave for whatever reason, not a problem...
Leave with all our blessing, but don't keep harping on about leaving every 10 days....
(& don't keep saying after 24 hours, it's me, I'm back)...
Oh, and don't keep blaming Trainz's SOFTWARE for your woes.
(crashing every 20 mins, etc). In this case, I believe 95% of the problem/s lies somewhere in his system, rather than Trainz's software. Maybe his PC spec's just aren't up to scratch with what he's trying to run. Also plenty of community have offered to help....
Personally I would like to see this young lad stay and continue to be part of the community. (& solve his Trainz's/PC issues). No one likes seeing anyone leave.
(not unless they are an a/h's)...
What's annoying some of the community is just about every other day, someone's saying "I'm leaving", then 24 hours later "it's me again, I'm back"
If your leaving, great leave, bye !!!! - Hopefully we might hear from you in the next year or two... If you are staying, that's even greater, but hey, please stop the nonsense. Thanks...
Cheers, Mac...
