Quitting Trainz until there's nothing like 09!

Hi all, I would like to sadly announce that I am quitting Trainz. At least until there is a version which will at least run on my computers without crashing every 20 minutes. This causes me great frustration and I hate it, so I don't want to waste my time so I could do something better.

May 27 ,2009 Hi all, I'm afraid that I'm quitting Trainz, until there is a version which isn't as 'bad' as TS09 and that my system is capable of without constantly crashing or not even opening. I will stay on the scene here and on the UKTrainz forum too though.

Well , I have seen members quit and never return , and I have seen members quit and return in less than a 24 hour period , but you are the first that I can remember that has quit , returned and requit in 10 days !

My hat is off to you , and don't be afraid --- ,DLR

Be careful not to be sarcastic...:D
A little tongue in cheek perhaps, but for the most part I was being serious. There is always some one screaming that they are done with Trainz and they want to stick it to Auran. And considering how bad my computer sucks while I can still deal with it, most probably just need some help or to put in some time themselves to resolve it. I have re-installed and lost everything many times in the early days of my Trainz experience. The last time I re-installed was just to clean house because I screwed up and downloaded at least half (HA!) of the DLS, but I got her running smooth. I don't know, maybe they just give up too easy. Or maybe they let a bunch of bad stuff into their computer.

Run Chkdsk with the /F option and fix all damaged files.
Run CCleaner
Run CCleaner Registry fix (second item on menu), but here's the trick! Run it three (3) times. You may be amazed to see how many items the second and third passes pick up. Do it until you get No more issues, but three times is enough.

By now your machine should buzz!

Good luck.

Wierd, ran CCCleaner and TRS06 has gone from a silky smooth circa30 fps to a frame-by-frame single digit stutter, and as far as I can see not much else runs right either. Every program i have tried to open starts with a minimum 60 seconds of black screen before stuttering to life...

Andy, I guess there has to be a first! CCleaner is a fantastic program with an equally fantastic reputation. So I wonder why it decided to wipe out a fellow Aussie? I've been using it for about 2 years, maybe longer, along with dozens of other people I know and there's never been a single complaint in all that time. Was it actually CCleaner? If so, just restore the Registry from the backup you made when you ran the Registry section. I'm sure you would have made the backup when you were asked. Or did you maybe click all the unticked boxes, ignoring the warning messages as you did?

Get your computer bloke to email me if he thinks you're a Bl%$dy idiot!' They now charge over $100 an hour, so talk is cheap!

I really don't like hearing things like this. The program is stable and you should not have experienced problems, regardless of what your computer man told you.

You know, the difference between a used car salesman and a computer salesman is that the used car salesman knows he's lying.

I have used CCleaner many times myself with no issues, I feel badly that it has caused someone else problems!:(

Hi John

Totally weird, I ran CCCleaner after reading your post, rebooted the system (which took ages) with the results outlined above. That was this morning.

Booted the computer from cold this afternoon without touching a thing and everything is not only back to normal, but as you stated in your earlier post, the machine fairly buzzes. I keep this machine fairly lean, it only runs obvious system utilities (anti-virus, spyware etc); TRS04; TRS06; and my camera graphics programs. Booting has always been fairly quick, but is now lightning. Trainz is back silky smooth and the system is definitely faster opening programs etc.

I have edited my original post and apologize unreservedly for slinging off.

By the by I have a great respect for my computer bloke who put a lot of hours in at no charge when he built this box 'cause he got himself hooked on getting Trainz to run as well as he felt it should. He had words to say about that software also. I have spoken to him again and he has no idea what caused my glitch, but stands by his statement that fixing errors caused by CCC makes him money!

Incidentally, I have never sold cars, but I do sell used caravans for a living. I believe I dodge the stereotype.

Andy :)

I'm glad to hear it works better for you. I use CC myself and I think it helps to improve the efficiency of the ol' girl I run. :D

I think we have to be careful what we delete though and should always make a backup just to be safe. If people delete the WRONG things, then of course, it's going to cause problems (which might make your friend some money)

There is another program I run as well to help clean things up, which seems to pick up even more stuff that others leave behind. It seems to work for me although I can't remember the name of it (I'm at work at the moment). If there is interest, I'll post some more information about it later.

I also recommend people consider using a program like Norton Ghost, which essentially takes a snapshot of your hard drive and stores it in a file. If something goes wrong you can literally overwrite your hard drive using the snapshot which will put things back the way you had them before. It's come in handy for me several times...

Sorry, I though you had already left !!!!! (10 days ago)...

How much mileage do you expect to keep getting from this "I'm leaving & won't be back till Auran get Trainz's sorted out CR_P" !!!

Bye - and may the force be with you.........
Cheers, Mac...

PS, If you are staying, great, but grow up and stop posting these immature threads about leaving-quitting... :'(

NO! THIS IS SERIOUS!

NO! Seriously guys this isn't one of those pathetic little attention seeking threads! I'm fed up with the constant bugs so I'm going to spend my money on some better games!
 *"^£$()*&!"("$(*^!()*^"$)(*^!)$(&^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a long time Trainz user, and have found that by and large TRS and the earlier versions are all still very enjoyable. That said, TRS has always been buggy, lots of issues with the game crashing, getting errors etc. I think CMP causes more trouble than its worth too.

There ae bugs in the progam that drive people mad, particularly CMP. It locks up, stops responding, and when those things happen, TRS fails to load up at all. You can't edit or do anything when CMP starts acting up like that.

Out of all the Trainz versions I've had, I think TRS2004 would be the most stable with UTC second.

I can fully understand people wanting to leave the game, a game shouldn't be frustrating to run.

You have all the rights in the world to do so. But as far as the people around here are concerned, your thread sounds exactly like the ones you claim it's not. When you're tired of Trainz, leave it alone for awhile. If you've got railroading in your bloodstream, you'll come back eventually.

Alternatively, you could submit a list of the bugs irritating you so that they can (hopefully) be fixed in 09's SP2. At any rate, it beats sitting around and whining. And I doubt doing so would cost you any money.

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

That's the thing! I don't want to play a game which doesn't work at all! That's why I'm going to wait in the shadows for TSX or whatever it's called and then act according to its reception.

Amen! Good call! Wise decision!
Now, get out of here!:D

Then why is it that not all of us are being tormented by the game the way you describe you are? It's normal for people to lose interest and move on. But it gets irritating when they're leaving and they act like it's the end of the world. As someone once posted, "sorry, no sympathy". If you want to leave, nobody's stopping you.

Best regards,
Nicholas.

I'm not making a biggy of this! I'm just saying that I'm going and everybody is so used to 'biggy leavings' that they're making a 'biggy' of it. Now look. I'm going. End of. No big problem. Bye!

additional computer system checks

In the Adimistrative Tools there is an Event Viewer.
When this is open you have several areas to check - Application, Security, System, and a few others depending on loaded software applications.

If you select the System, you will see Events listed on the right side of the window. There are Information types, WARNING types, and ERROR types. The BIG RED X is the worst type. Double click the ERROR EVENT and read the description area for a link to the Help and Support Center to get it fixed. There are Event ID numbers too....so look those up and fix em...

If you can resolve all of the System Error Events and get your system healthy, then you can look at the Application and Security Events.

It may take some time to clean your system but once it is done all your programs and games will be a lot more enjoyable to play...

If your computer was your car/train and it wasnt fun to drive, you [the owner] would spend the time to get it fixed instead of giving up and quiting...I will wait for the next new car to come off the assembly line and get that one [ doh! ]

Sorry David. Too late.

Might I inquire about the other games and programs you have loaded on your computer?

Do you have games like Real-Time Strategy, First Person Shooters, Flight Sim / Combat Sims, Total War 2, Pirates!, Company of Heroes, Uncommon Valor, War in the Pacific, etc...

Do you have any problems with your other games and do you feel those games are running at their maximum graphical performance and live up to their enjoyment factor / $$$ investment ???

Thanks,
David
