Quickdrive question

I wanted to change the weather conditions for a session. This brought me to quickdrive because it is the only place I could find the option to do this easily. When I enter the quickdrive setup, all the trains are gone and I have the option of creating new consists. That's all pretty clear except I can't find any engines in the list. There's just passenger cars, coal cars etc. and no engines anywhere.

Where are the engines? Is there an easier way to modify weather for a session without having to recreate it?

Thanks in advance for your time.

**UPDATE**
I found the option to change weather in the session editor. If anyone else is looking for this, here's what you do: Edit the session and click the "edit session rules" button at the top of the screen. From the list, edit the startup options. You'll see underlined text that lets you change different options. Click the underlinded text and edit as you wish. Save your session when you are done and enjoy.

I still haven't found the engines in the quickdrive mode yet...

You need to add the consist data handler rule to the session, quick drive uses this.

Thanks for the reply. I just looked in to what you mentioned. I had been trying to quickdrive the route since the sessions didn't offer that option. So I edited the route again and the consist data handler is already there. I looked at the quickdrive rule and the consist list options is defaulted to one called surveyor list (the same one that includes no engines). I need to change this? I don't see the option where you can edit this selection. I looked at about half of the other routes, all had the quickdrive option and all give you just this short list of cars you can add to a train but no engines? These are the routes that came with T12 that I purchased two days ago (and installed all the patches btw)

How did this software get released with a routes that offer the quickdrive option with no engines available? I may be wrong and it could be I am missing something... been there before... but even so, the prepackaged routes should not be this difficult to use. I really appreciate the patience you people have in this forum becuase you must have to provide a lot of support for Trainz.

Thanks again in advance.

Yes, quickdrive has no engines, but just run (and make) sessions, I don't think quickdrive is a good way to run a route.

So quickdrive will never work since there is nothing to drive? This is just fact? LOL

*sigh*

How do they get away with stuff like this? No answer requred, that was a rhetorical...

You just save engines and consists you want to use in the Add Consist section of Surveyor's consist tab and they will be in QD,
Quick Drive is very handy as it allows you to place a consist where you want it IN Game.

Mike, that seems to make sense. It sounds like you only get one list of consists to pick from which is the surveyors list? You would think they would put in a few engines in the list by default for the beginners but this is how it came right out of the box.

I'm burned out on this for today so I'll get in to it further tomorrow.

Thanks for the great info Mike.

Peace!

Adding consists and engine sets to QD from Sessions is quite powerful. I have a ton of speciality consists for Christmas and sets of engines like whitepass' FT A-B sets or Tume's EF1 engine set that has hidden bogies and is very difficult to assemble. I would suggest you be careful about your naming conventions since things can get a little out of control :D

If you buy any of the dowloadable content Auran frequently adds consists which include engines in those. I have not figured how to save consists with full loads but it must be possible since some of the built in consists are loaded, I tried with a ToFC string but it didn't work, maybe because I included the engine.

Have fun!

To have the consist loaded from the consist list, you must add it to the individual cars config file that make up each car.

queues
{
load
{
size 106957
initial-count 0 <------change this
animated-mesh "load"
product-kuid <kuid:46162:60003> <------------- change this to the load you want
}
}

Keep in mind that not all loads will appear as initially set up, this is because there are many products that have more than one mesh. You can also issue a instant load command after placing the consists.
You can add any consist that you have assembled in surveyor and place it or any route. You must remember to refresh the list before you place them in drive mode

The game is a work of art...a digital Norman Rockwell if you will...BUT...does it have to be so complicated?...I feel like I need a course in computer sciences...can't the tech ninjas at n3v just make a simple version that operates like the trucker sims "American Long Haul" or "Extreme Trucker 2" which are the truck versions of TS2010...IT"S A GAME n3v...make it fun & easy to play & give the "Einstein approach" a break...maxkurt 2321291 usmc

This is why people on the Forum are willing to help, with things that at first seem rather complicated ... but after you go through the learning curve, it will finally click in, and finally makes sence.

A PM is a great way to get help.
