Questions about engine specs

Get over it
Three Dash 8's coupled together. Actually this could apply to any type of loco but I chose the Dash 8's. Two of the locos were made by the same creator and the third by a different person. Getting these three locos to come close to the speed limit whether it be 25 mph or 65 mph is not possible. I know, different engine specs for the third loco. When lashing locos together I'm always aware that I need to use the same creator. Is there a way around this without changing the engine specs and having just one spec for each type of loco? Hope I'm not opening a can of worms for me. Thanks.

I'm surprised. You usually get at least a couple of replies but so far 78 looks and no responses. Tough question?

For DCC mode, the locomotives should anyway reach the value of the "max-speed" tag in the enginespec of the faster locomotives, but with reduced acceleration once the value of the "max-speed" tag in the enginespec of the slower locomotives is exceeded.

For Cab Mode, once you have exceeded the maximum speed for which a tractive effort value is specified in the enginespec of a locomotive, the unit becomes ceases to provide tractive effort to pull the train and becomes just another car to tow, and a very heavy one :).

I think the only solution to your problem is to replace the enginespec on one of the two types of engine.

If the locomotive are the same model but different creators, I usually change to a common engine/sound spec.

Thanks for the replies. I did some testing and Sporbust's engine specs allowed the loco to go over 90mph which I think is not realistic. I think the C40-8's top speed is 70mph. I switched over to McNally's (sp) engine specs which I think are more up to date.
