I've got Trainz 2004
but its not installed on the computer I use for internet(because it crashes it all the time and the pc I use for trainz can't handle the internet) is there a way for me to be able to download trains off the download station(which i've resistered the Serial number for) concidering my position

Cheers

Data sticks

Download onto your Internet PC then copy the cdp's onto a data stick and transfer them onto the second PC. Simple - squeak!

Hi Genesis72, by the way love the name, as I was a huge Genesis fan, Phil Collins was my fave and he's a fan of British Railways, I've met him a few times and he is great, anyway back to the topic...

I had the same trouble as you when I first encountered the Download station, but Zec Murphy came to my rescue, and this is how he explained it to me...

First off all, on your internet computer, make a folder called Trainz content and save this to your desktop, it'll be easier for you to find, when you need it later.

Then go onto the Download station and log on, once logged on, then go to the search box and find what you were trying to download.

Once found, go to DOWNLOAD PAGE a new box will appear

This new box will have this in yellow writing... DOWNLOAD(ftp) , use your mouse and right click on this and scroll down to SAVE AS or SAVE LINK AS

You will see a save box appear, choose the folder you set up earlier called Trainz content on your desktop, and choose SAVE

This will then save the necessary kuid files into that folder

You might see a list of dependencies, do the same as above for all dependencies

Please note - a number of boxes may appear, if there is more than one dependencie, look for this symbol - DOWNLOAD(ftp) and download from this only

(IMPORTANT - YOU MUST HAVE ALL DEPENDENCIES FOR YOUR CHOSEN CONTENT TO WORK ERROR FREE)

Hope this helps and good luck with your downloads

i've Tried that and it still don't work, it either tells me I don't have the authority to download or takes so long to decide what it wants to do the internet times out.

Just to be sure;

"You can't download anything else then files from Trainz 2004 or lower"

If you try to download files that depend on higher version of Trainz you will not be able to do so.

Your version is controlled by your Serial number in DL station.

Said the way I understand it.

This is false.

As an owner of TRS2004, Classics 1&2, TRS2006, TS2009, and now TRS2010, I have downloaded items for Classics 3. They may not always work without going through some fiddling, but they do work.

You may have a grudge right how with Auran, but spreading false rumors only puts you in a bad light.

I don't have that big Grudge against Auran, but some of the messages I get make me shake my head.

For your information...from DL statiom

Download Requirements Top
  • Registered with Planet Auran
  • Register your Trainz serial number in your Planet Auran profile (the number found on the inside of your retail box or DVD case)

Note: You will only be able to download content from the same or earlier versions of Trainz that you have registered.
  • Enter your Planet Auran Username and Password information in the Trainz Configuration Menu on your Trainz Launcher.

Well that's different... Because I've downloaded really old stuff too.

Maybe this is a new thing.

Hi Genesis, with the computer saying you don't have authority, I'm just wondering are you in administrator mode and also do you use FIREFOX as your internet browser.?.

You see FIREFOX should work, as it works for me, but everyone is different, if not try another browser and see if that works, but whether you are the only person listed on the computer or not, might effect your downloads and might give you the message "I don't have the authority to download" are you the only one on the computer, or does it have a administrator mode which you cannot get past.

This message could be down to a number of things including some virus checkers that can act up when it doesn't recognise a file, and a CDP is a strange file to a computer, especially if Trainz is not installed on your PC, as I found out when I used a browser called Internet Explorer and every Trainz file I tried to get from the download station stated the following... "THIS FILE IS NOT A TRAINZ PROTOCOL" this is were Zec Murphy helped me out, and he told me what you see above.

I'm sorry if the above doesn't work, as I'm totally lost of what it could be...

I do hope you find a solution to your problem, hopefully someone on here might just spot something I've touched on, but missed, and may be able to help you further, good luck...

John,
If you download through the FTP route, like I do, anything for a version higher than what you have registered gives you a Trainz XXXX serial number required message. Anything below what you have registered is available to download. Since you have 10 everything will be available for you. The OP only has 04 so won't be able to access anything for Trainz builds above that.

Dave......

Thank you for the clarifcation, Dave.

That makes more sense to me.

John

Hope I didn't sound rude. I was just kind of clearing that up and give the OP some info as well. Kind of a neat little feature so you don't download something that won't work.

Dave.......

Neither Firefox or internet exporer like CDPS no matter how much I tweak it, so screw Auran:n: , anyone know of some good freeware sites with british steam on which ain't a link to the bloody download station ?

Can you explain how TRS2004 crashes the computer. Can you also give us the specs for the computer. It is rather curious to hear about this kind of problem. The more information you can give us the better the help we can give. We know you have TRS2004 but what build no is it. Is it the DVD version or the CD ("Just Trainz") version. If your OS is above XP then you will have to use "Run as Administrator".

Tbh unless I find a couple sites with decent british free ware I'm buying Railworks,MSTS or Rail Simulator then it will be  so long Auran
