I have made a route and in my asset details it shows that it is 879 kb size, but I have saved it in cdp and it shows 175kb size. Why the discrepency. I just barely overwrote so I must have it all.

Looks like it does not save the dependencies when saving a route as a CDP file.

that correct
the saved file only saves the reference to the content, when you install it it checks if you have the content and if not gets it from the DLS

Also, the CDP files are compressed, whereas the asset details reports the uncompressed size.
