question on trainz 22 download content

so i was checking out the locomotives here at the store, and i clicked on some Australian engines, i see its compatible for trainz 22 but it did not say anything about trainz 22 platium. which i will be getting so why did they not list the engiens as compatible for trainz 22 platium. but only works for trainz 22 and thats it

Anything compatible with TRS22 should be fine in TRS22 Platinum. Especially if you are on the current Service Pack build.

Unfortunately N3V does not advertise the fact that you must have the latest build to enable the new DLC coming online. TRS22...Build Number 126273. False advertising? Yes. I found out the hard way. No where on their advertising page is this little gem advertised. I was going to take legal action but for the small amount of $23 , i thought not worth it. So a warning to all.

I must be missing something because I do not understand this.

The advertising for the SA AN Class - Pacific National pack states very clearly...

In Game Downloadable Content (Requires Internet Connection)
Compatible with: Trainz Plus TRS22 TRS19 SP5+

It does not list the individual Trainz build numbers - which would have to include the different build numbers for the Windows, Steam and MacOS variants for each of those versions - 9 build numbers in total. Many users find build numbers confusing, judging from posts in these forums, and I have certainly responded to a fair few who were confused.

Likewise the Trainz Store page does not mention TRS22PE nor TRS19PE SP5.

If something runs on TRS22 then it also runs on TRS22PE. If it runs on TRS19 SP5 it also runs on TRS19PE SP5. The differences between those versions are mostly (if not entirely) in Surveyor, but I have TRS22PE and not TRS22 installed and no longer have TRS19 so I am unable to check that. MacOS users and those without Nvidia cards miss out on TurfFX Effect layers in all versions of Trainz.

At the risk of sticking my neck out (yet again) but I have to say it. If you have TRS22 installed why would you not have the latest SP build update when it comes through? If you decide not to update from, say SP2 to SP3 or to SP4 (a decision you are perfectly entitled to make for, I am sure, perfectly valid reasons) and find that new things don't work then who is to blame?

My opinions.

TRS2022...no mention of Build numbers required. That is why it is as clear as mud. Had I known that my particular build did not support the DLC I would not have purchased the DLC. Simples. "Trainz Plus Trs2022 Trs2019 SP5+" No commas no differentiation, just a line with no clear sign of builds required. ...That last one, TRS2019 SP5 equates to first iteration of Trs2022. A bit nebulous. No? We ll I got stung . and was told too bad when I complained about the lack of clarity....Again, the advertising is not as clear as it should have been, otherwise I would not have purchased the item. Yes? No? Still want to defend the "Clarity" of the advertising? Another way of putting it is if it can be supported in TRS2019 Sp 5+ then it should slide right into TRS 2022.

In answer to your question regarding why I don t have the latest build, well I did go ahead and purchase TRS2022 PE. I wish I had not. The fact that u cannot zoom into the yard full of points to change them while in Driver, was a deterring factor. The S 2.0? Meh...Taking five clicks on the mouse to get the same result as one on earlier builds. HD in surveyor...How many Gigs of storage and Ram one needs is out of the question. Efficient? Nah. TRS2022 PE will sit in a storage folder together with Dovetails Trains. To gather e-dust. I will stick to TRS2022 Build 119451 SP2. I have learnt some very expensive lessons. Again a warning to any prospective purchasers of DLC, you need to have the latest build TRS2022. Something that should be clearly stated on the advertising page, but isn't.
Been around for over 20 years and I would have preferred the basics to be fixed, emissive lighting, prototypical precipitation effect and a realistic looking skybox, not something that looks good in mario bros. Oh and an AI that is actually intelligent....Still waiting, but hey ho...High Definition in surveyor! How many gigs of computer power required to run and store that little beauty? Anyways I am off on a tangent. Thanks for your input pware, cheers now for some rum and coke.

You missed the fact under the price that said

SA AN Class - Pacific National

$14.99 USD
Default Title - $14.99 USD

This item is currently available in Preview Pass to Trainz Plus Gold Members. It will be available to purchase shortly.

@stagecoach. It is as clear as mud. There should be build numbers. otherwise i would not have purchased. Commas would help. "TRS22 , Build 126273". Or "TRS22 PE". Not just TRS22. The word "vague" comes to mind. Something to that effect. Where's that Gin and tonic?..

It clearly states Gold Subscription Only, not a build number.
When installed it shows as
<kuid:804089:112425> PN AN 05+ build 4.8
<kuid:804089:108270> AN AN 92+ build 4.8
TRS22 is the same in all versions, it is the different features that the versions contain that give them a different title.

Incorrect stagecoach. Look closely at the image. It says "DLC included in Trainz plus Gold membership". But also works in "Trainz Plus TRS22 TRS19 SP5 +".

There is nothing about "Only works with Gold Membership".
It works in TRS22 Build 126273, but not in TRS22 Build 119451. TRS22 Build 126273. (I have TRS22 PE Build 126273 also and it works in that too) You do not need not gold membership at all.
I asked the N3V peeps about that and I was told that one needs the latest build for the item to work. Also why has Trs19 got the actual Sp5 + as an indication of compatibility but there is no defining build or SP number for TRS22? That is the question. I repeat, had this little fact been actually advertised I would not have purchased the item.

After I purchased and loaded the loco into TRS22 Build 119451 there was only the one issue. The cab had textures and not TGA images. I attempted to fix with Pevsoft Images2TGA app. To no avail, since the cab is a packaged payware item. Would not let me fix it. That is when I complained and was then told I needed the latest build.

Again a warning to all, make sure you have the latest build of TRS22, otherwise you lose money. I repeat my case, this is misleading advertising by N3V. Whether it be on purpose or just a mistake, there is no recompense other than legal action which is not really worth it. Cheers.

OK, now I see what is the issue, a confusion over labels. It is the SP (Service Pack) update number (where applicable), not the platform build number.

For example: SP4 is, at the time of this post, the latest retail release for TRS22 (standard) and TRS22PE. The exact same update has the following build numbers:-
  • 126273 for Windows
  • 126274 for Steam (Mac)
  • 126286 for Mac
  • 126295 for Steam (Windows)
  • 126300 for Mac App Store
As pointed out in the post above, the SP4 number is missing from TRS22 in the advertised product page. If you need the latest SP release to run a product then this should be included - assuming that the SP update works identically in all 5 builds (except for known differences due to OS platform and hardware).

But, as per my previous post, why would you not have the latest SP update installed and then expect the latest product addons (i.e. DLC products) to still work?

But point taken.

Thank you pware! You have seen the conundrum.
Regarding the update to SP4, I did not pusue this course of action because:
1) I did not like the fact that you cannot zoom down into a yard to change points while in Driver. (Mini map or free roaming)
2) the horror stories by some peeps on this forum who went through the process of updating. The mess created eg: broken assets left me cold

I have purchased TRS22 PE, just to see what the fans are all so happy about, but I do feel quite underwhelmed. The issue of not being able to zoom in while in mini map or while free roaming is all too frustrating. The new surveyor, I find quite a tedious chore. (5 clicks on left hand mouse which only needs one in previous versions for the same result) I enjoy route building and am quite happy to sit on S1. As for HD? Well, that will require an enormous amount of computing power and storage to build and run even a small layout. Maybe sometime in the future when we all have super computers in our basements...but for now....back to some rum and cola. Again thanks for your input pware., glad you could see where I am coming from. Cheers.

We seem to have been talking about two different packages. Once downloaded, your package needs several assets updated. There are newer versions on the DLS. These may cure some problems.

Again incorrect stagecoach. There are no updates showing in either TRS22 PE or Trs19, for this particular loco. I have the loco in those iterations of the game. These updates you talk of, are not showing up anywhere that I can obtain them. Here is an image in my CM Build 119451. These would be showing up as out of date if there were any updates available, but they do not

But thanks for your input also. Regards.

hello and yes i do have the lastest buid number. i would think auran would update the build number automatically or the member would update by clicking on update maybe

@switchmen37...Yes I would have thought so myself. The person I spoke to at N3V basically said "Too bad...Update or lose your money." Not exactly the words used but the inference was the same. Thx for your input.

Don't know where you are going with this @stagecoach, but here is the image of my copy of Content Manager, TRS22 Build 119451 SP2:

Notice that the cab is the asset with the error : <kuid:804089:112665> EMD AN Cab Interior 92+

The textures are not TGA's. I cannot convert them using Pevsoft app because it is a payware item. I contacted N3V and was told basically update to a higher build otherwise......too bad. Enough said.
