Question about "Trainz DLC: Nickel Plate High Speed Freight Set"

Hello,

Any help will be appreciated. Does the "Trainz DLC: Nickel Plate High Speed Freight Set" run only on TS12 SP1?
Do I not get to download it as I did all other Official DLC I bought?

I am worried about this bit:

"Trainz In Game Downloadable Content
This DLC requires Trainz Simulator 12 SP1. After purchase the DLC will be automatically downloaded into Trainz when you next start the game. Please ensure that you purchase the DLC with the account you use in Trainz Simulator 12 SP1."

Regards, Mimes

Indeed. If it says it requires TS12 SP1, it basically means you must have TS12 SP1 in order to get the content as it requires the new DLC/DRM system in TS12 SP1 in order to use it.

It really should come as a download, just like all other payware DLC assets do ... so you can save the download, for future re-installation, should you ever lose it ... but it doesn't come that way as a download ... as it seems N3V automatically downloads the NKP Berkshire directly, and reaches into your computer Trainz files, via DRM, and deposits the downloaded assets for you, in your Trainz files ... That's so nice of them, to do that for you !

Wrong, it downloads to the UserData\Packages folder, save that as a backup.
To remove DLC remove the packages folder and run a QDR.
To restore the DLC replace the saved packages folder and run a QDR.
Also works on a fresh install, add saved packages folder and QDR, tried and tested here. Saves having to download any DLC again.

Here's a good one for Shane to explain, cos' for the life of me, I can't ................

Have just installed (as a dual boot with XP) 'Win 7', the OP systems are on separate drives.
Have also just installed TS12 digi download on 'Win 7' drive, under 'Win 7' on my new SSD.

Already had TS2010 installed under 'Win XP' on my old hard drive, along with the DLC 'SnC' + 'Duchess' pack

Went to download both packs into my new TS12 install, but came up with this ....................

To re - download 'SnC' I had to go to :- PLANET AURAN > LEGACY ORDER HISTORY. (job done BUT ........... no sign of my 'Duchess' pack)

To d/load my 'Duchess' pack, I had to go to :- PLANET AURAN > SHOP > MY ACCOUNT (then log in) > MY DOWNLOADS. (job done BUT ...... no sign of my 'SnC' pack).

For some reason, between d/loading 'SnC' on 3 May 2012 & d/loading the 'Duchess' pack on 9 Nov. 2012, N3v decided to change the path to my d/loads & decided it was too much bother to consolidate the 2 sites.

Been there got the Tee Shirt exactly the same problem. Changed over in November 2012 from what I remember. I've got all mine saved to Disk and DVD, not relying on anything remaining on-line from the old installers for much after T2 appears.

Have you tried the password-change trick with Trainz closed? (Planet Auran > Edit Account, click Edit next to Password, re-enter your current password then click Save).

If you have and it's still not appearing, you will need to raise a ticket with Helpdesk.

I think it's pretty clear that you need TS12 SP1, where's the confusion?

Paul

Hello Paul,

A lot of downloadable content runs on many version of Trainz. My question related to two areas of concern:

1, I do not want to run TS12 SP1 at the moment, but would like to run this DLC in 2009, 2010 and 12 non SP1
2, Backup and restore without NV3 involvement

Relating to point #1 - someone may have tried to run it on a non-SP1 install via save / restore (if possible) and it works

Relating to a point #2 - Once upon a time a bought a game called Ab Zero by Domark. I paid good money for it. It has some obscure disk checking mechanism which prevents me from running this game in a DOS box. All other games I have I can play anytime even after the company which created them is long gone.

I do not mind - per se - having to have a particular version of Trainz to aquire DLC via NV3. But once I have it, I do consider it a must not to have have to:
1, Re-download every time I reinstall Trainz (do that a lot)
2, Periodically activating e.g. once a month (I have various versions of Trains installed across approx 14 PCs - a bit over the top, but some men dress in women's clothes which is also out of the norm - whatever makes da man happy :))

If those are your must haves then you are out of luck.

Hello Paul,

Do I understand correctly - I have to re-download "Trainz DLC: Nickel Plate High Speed Freight Set" each time I reinstall Trainz and "Trainz DLC: Nickel Plate High Speed Freight Set" will run only on SP1, no matter what?

I do not mind the "has to have SP1" part, but not happy with having to re-download multiple times.

Oh, thank you so much clam1952,

That was exactly the answer I was after. Thank you again.

Good Morning Mimes
As outlined in our store, this pack is only available for Trainz Simulator 12 SP1 and newer. The pack downloads automatically via the DLC system, and will install into the location outlined by Clam1952. We do not plan to re-introduce the old 'exe' file installers, due to a large number of issues with this format.

@Blackwatch
This would be the change over from the old Auran.com shop to the SimulatorCentral.com shop. Any orders purchased through the old shop system will be accessible via the 'legacy order history', whilst orders from the new shop system will be accessible via your account on simulatorcentral.com (in the 'my downloads' section of your account). We will not be transferring orders from the old shop to the new shop, however the download links in old orders do point to the new shop's servers.

Thanks Zec, I did get both, it was just a matter of not knowing if it was a glitch with my accounts, or whether there
was some registration process that i hadn't completed correctly. Your explanation has put my mind at rest.
