Question about replacing assets via replace assets option

Hello,

Before sending a message to the helpdesk.

Does anyone know if N3V_Games are busy with an option ( via next service pack ) which could give us the possibility to replace bridges tunnels, multiple tracks, trains within our routes ?

Thank you.

Best regards,

Kurt

Are you using 12? There is already an option to let your replace assets via the drop down menu in the upper left corner. It will not swap out trains, but most everything else is fair game.

Everything the OP quoted cannot be replaced using that tool!

Hello Euphod, Captainkman,

Thank you for your reply.

My route is being build in Trainz2010. I have imported the route in TS12, but I had to many errors and warnings, due to the fact that my route is Belgium related and most of the assets are from Belgian Trainzers. The major part of those assets are from the period 2006. Thanks to PEV's tools I was able to fix some assets for the trainz version 10, but not for 12. So I decided to continue building in trainz 10. Presently, I haven't got the skills the make all assets myself.

I tried to replace the multiple tram tracks, but immediately received the warning. I will try again, after doing some minor changes to the track laying.

Best regards

By "multiple tracks" we mean a track or bridge spline that has two or more track attachments, the replace tool won't do those.

"I have imported the route in TS12, but I had to many errors and warnings, due to the fact that my route is Belgium related"

It has nothing to do with Belgium, or Luxembourg or Lichtenstein or Transylvania. If you look at your options you probably have compatibility mode enabled. If you create a route in TS2010 intending to have it work in TS12, you MUST turn compatibility mode off, or you have no way of knowing if you're using faulty assets in the route. Create a route in compatibility mode and it's compatibility mode dependent, the end user has to use compatibility mode, and there's no compatibility mode in TS12.

Hello Euphod, Captainkman,

I did some minor changes to the tram track and did the following

a) using the replace assets tool - I replaced the HP concrete track by HP track conc dark green - result : replacement was done :)

b) using the replace assets tool - I wanted to replace the HP concrete track by Track with catenary A single ( kuid 117608:60325 ( by Kenichiro ) - result : warning was received

the Track with catenary A single asset = an asset with track, caternary, pylon, wire combination ( all in one asset ).

c) I opened a single track testroute and tried to replace the single track to be replaced by Kenichiro's Track with catenary A single - result : warning was received.

d) I created a simple route and used Kenichiro's Track with catenary A single. Then I tried to replace the track using the replace assets tool - result : warning was received.

Any ideas about the non execution in try-out b) and c) ?

Best regards

Track_with_Catenary_A_Double,<kuid:117608:60318> is a double track, replace assets won't replace double track. Single track with overhead wire = no problem, 2 track concrete,<kuid:-1:110017> will not work even though it has no overhead wire, because it's a spline with 2 tracks in it.

Hello Sniper297,

Thank you for your reply.

I know that this has nothing to do with Belgium or any other country. However, I used to have compatibility mode on.

When I noticed all those errors and warnings in my Trainz2010, I started fixing them. No more warnings and errors in my Trainz2010 version and compatibility mode is now off.

When I download an asset, before using it, I first check if there are no errors or warnings. If I have some errors or warnings, I try to fix them. If I cannot fix the errors and/or warnings, I simple delete the asset.

In trainz2010 I saved my route as a cdp and tried to import the route in TS12.

Now I had errors in TS12. I decided to continue my route in Trainz2010 without errors and warnings. Perhaps, I should have to fix those errors in TS12, but motivation to start with it, isn't there at this moment.

Hello Shane, Sniper297,

To Shane - Your question was answered by Sniper297.

To Sniper297 - thank you for clearing this out for me :).

I guess, I have to return to the drawingboard and start a list with things I can do and cannot do in Trainz09,10,12 .

Or perhaps it is time to ask myself if it is still useful to build a realistic route. Perhaps it is better to start building small non-realistic diesel routes.

I still have one option available using transdem.

Hello Sniper297,

Just to let you know.

In my post 7 of this thread, I had placed the exact asset but the wrong kuidnr. Meanwhile, I have corrected my post 7.

All my tests were with Track with catenary A single ( kuid 117608:60325 ( by Kenichiro ). This is a single track and the replacement with the presently used HP concrete track could not be done.

I then did a test with transdem and there I had the unexpected result that the pylons, catenary and were visible but the track was not presented.
( link to transdem forum = http://forum.transdem.de/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=196&sid=ec8dfe6ff645027fd7f5a55ee8711294 ). I have no idea why this happens.

I imported a route made in TS2010 into TS12, and had a lot of problems with different kinds of track that would not join. They stayed joined unless I split them, and then I could not re-join them. No fun, believe me. I still haven't been able to work out exactly what it is that won't join to what. It's usually the ones that have the horrible "white line" editing mode that cause trouble.

Hello Mick Berg,

Do you have a list of those tracks that would not join?

I downloaded that and took a look, problem is that track is classed as a bridge;

bridgetrack <kuid:46162:38014>
trackoffsets -0.01

it says type "track" but since it has a track KUID attachment and the offset it's classed as a bridge and therefore can't be replaced with the replace assets function. For the other problem, my guess is you're missing something - MP-Track wood,<kuid:46162:38014> is the track actually called for by the KUID table in the config, but it's apparently been obsoleted by Auran Track TS2009 Jarrah,<kuid:523:1110> which is built into both 2010 and 12, so no idea why it would be missing. Aside from the fact that the whole KUID obsolete replacement system has a lot of loose screws it's possible something is locally modified or faulty.

What I would try, set the content manager filter for built in = true, locally modified = true, select all, right click, edit, revert to original.

Hello,

For the trainzers who are interested -

I have found the following asset kuid:99999:79531 and did some tests using Transdem. All the elements of the assets are presented in the route.

You can see the result in post 4 using this link : http://forum.transdem.de/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=196&sid=400dc61129c3a908d27def22cb02df0e

Now, I am one step further, but I still haven't found all items of this problem. The search goes on ...

Helpdeskticket was created to ask a question ( solution in next service pack ? ) about the replace assets tool

Best regards
