Question about Jointed Rail's F7 (no, not THAT one)

This isn't about why they were pulled, I totally get that.

Fact is I have some, and I'm curious about the Cab (which I do not know for sure was from JR)

It has a Transistion lever, something Trainz does not natively support, and I was curious if it ever actually did anything in earlier versions, or was it just "for show"?

So, in short, does anyone recall it? Does anyone recall it working?
