Question about Instant load rule

First I am running 2010. With that out of the way, I know there is an instant load rule, which is great but is there a way to select what gets instantly loaded? For instance, when you have a freight car that can handle different product like a grain hopper, can you select if you want to instant load corn instead of wheat?

I had a feeling. What does commodities deal with? I've never used that before. It sounds like something that would allow a specific load to only be loaded into a specific car. But like I said I've never dealt with that so that's just a guess.

When your in surveyor you can load the wagon with any of the goods it will carry but in driver my first comment will apply.
However after checking the route I'm running it seems you can limit what you want each wagon to carry. Just tried it and it doesn't work even with a product it should carry. It still loads the first product.
The only way is to get a set wagon for a set load then instant load is fine. woodchips gondola being 1 example.

Well I know you can load whatever into a car in surveyor. Give me a little more credit then that lol.

What I'm trying to do is set up an endless session without having to configure 10 million protolars industries. So I figured if I could use instant load I could bring trains onto the route with an iPortal and take them to their respective spotting locations to be loaded, then come back later for a pick up and do an instant load. So it would be like the train got loaded while I was gone.

I'm surprised this isn't a feature yet. I would think that someone would develop some kind of rule to be selective in loading during driver. I'll figure something out I'm sure.

I've got something similar to what your after at the moment using multi ind new x2, 1 pulp mill and 1 cheat instant load (woodchips), and a forestry.
There's 15 AI's running round in headless chicken mode, takes a bit of seeing to.

I've delt with this problem by modifying the congif file for the train cars. I put the commodity I want to instant load as the first commodity in the first queue. I have to keep track of which car is set to haul which commodity, but so far it is working for me.

I too am interested in continuious operations. To that end, I have created the CMTM System (Car Movement & Traffic Management). When a session is begun, every car on the route is set to an empty or a load and is given an off route destination. For all trains entering the route via a CMTM portal, each freight car is given a destination and is set to loaded or unloaded status. No interactive industries are required, although I like to have those that deal with visible loads to be Proto-Lars for the animation of loading/unloadiing.

Features I am currently adding are the ability to load specific commodities into any car that is set-up to handle that class of commodity and, contunious 24/7 operation with the ability to jump time to the next active period for your route.

This may seem off the wall a bit but......
I ve kindda did a add a xtra yd (load yard) which if using the PL industries
basically created a class yard with industries set up as in bound loads 2 birds 1 stone............

Dave =)

I have also used this. I have set up a staging yard with the PL tracks set to load whatever I wish. Send the full car to a portal, unload, and return to a class yard then to a staging yard for that product. The first load rule works to your advantage if you are using mine products, ores, coal, minerals etc.

You can also clone cars and change the config so only one product is set for each clone. Then you can rename the car and put the product in the name.
