Question about a route

Hello all.

I have a question about Nicky9499's Coal County Railroad.

There are some locomotives and 1 train car that are already in the route.

What do I do about this, because I'm trying to make my own sessions, and I don't want anything to go wrong with the route.

Help would be most appreciated.

Hi TrainzFan99,

Open the route for edit and check to see if the rollingstock is in the route layer or the session layer. Unlock the layer they are in and delete them, reselect the route layer and save.

Cheers,

If you don’t want anything to go wrong with the route then don't delete the route layer. What were you thinking of? Were you in fact thinking at all?

Paul

You don't delete the route layer, you select the route layer (or session layer, depending where the train is) and delete the loco and rolling stock. Delete a layer and you lose lots - possibly everything....

What Paul was saying, perhaps with a little less "tact" than was possible, was that you should never delete the route layer in a layout - unless of course you wanted to spend a lot of time (perhaps many months) rebuilding it to your own requirements.

While it is possible to place them in any layer, route or session, the session layers are more commonly used for placing rolling stock. In this case it is possible that the creator accidentally placed them in the route layer. It is also possible that the particular items of rolling stock were intended to appear in all the sessions in which case the route layer would have been a logical choice.

Either way, the easiest solution would be to simply unlock all the layers (if any of them were locked), select the rolling stock asset tool and delete the individual rolling stock items, or move them to a session layer.

A side effect of deleting a session layer is that you would also delete all assets (including other trains and their driver commands) and industry settings (e.g. products, etc) that are stored in that layer.

I thought I made it clear, you only delete the rollingstock. You might have to redownload the route to fix it now.

Nah, it's just the one. When I first downloaded it, I had to find missing or unknown dependencies and fix faulty dependencies.

The route (Coal County Railroad) shows up in-game perfectly fine with no errors.

I dunno why it crashes the game when I try to make my own free-roam sessions.

Got me stumped, is it available on the DLS? If so I will download it and see what happens.

Cheers,
