Program freezes in driver

Hey All,

Searched the forum and couldn't find a similar problem. I've been running TRS2009 for a about a year or two without any real problems. Recently, I will create a scenario in surveyor then go to driver, after the train moves about 5 feet the program freezes. I tried different locos, single locos, multiple, no matter... after about 5 feet it freezes. I have to ctrl, alt, del out of the program.

Any ideas or help is appreciated, thanks.

Does your computer meet the minimal requirements for the game? Also as a suggestion have you tried switching between direct x and open gl? Have your tried doing a database repair see if that helped any?

I believe I'm good with the minimum requirements, windows 7, 2.40Ghz core i3, 4 GB RAM. I'll try switching between dir x and GL, hadn't thought of that. The data base has repaired itself a few times, which is strange.

The program had worked well for almost 2 years. I'm thinking maybe I should reinstall, but will try switching as you suggested first.

ED... I switched to GL and have the same problem. I am only up to SP3, I had read somewhere NOT to upgrade to SP4... would this be something worth trying?

A few thoughts.

Have you recently added some items in surveyor which might be high poly? Some of the Sketchup stuff, in particular, can cripple the game. I avoid those now.

If you go from Surveyor to Driver via Quickdrive, are you waiting for the Surveyor caching bar to complete loading fully to the right (plus a few seconds) before Quickdriving? Going to Driver too soon can sometimes cause problems.

Have you tried placing a loco somewhere else so that Driver starts in another, perhaps less dense, part of your Route?

Have you tried an older tried and true route/scenario that you haven't changed? ie is it a problem with the route (and your mods to that route) or the program itself?

Hope this helps.

Think I've got it figured out. I tried the installed routes with downloaded content and discovered that for some reason the Jointed Rail Trinity Hoppers and 50'6 Boxcars are causing the problem. Weird. They aren't showing any missing dependencies, but I do remember that they took a very long time to import to CM. I believe I also have a few JR locos, they seem to cause the same problem. Maybe because they come as packs?

Check to see if you have downloaded JR's sound and signal scripts.

Script files sometimes don't show up in missing list. Sometimes they show up with a red spot or red bug in lower right corner. Sometimes they don't show up.

Hope this helps.

Glad to hear you're close to complete resolution and have a working solution.
