Problems on session start

I've been having endless amounts of trouble getting this game and the download app to work properly and patching has been nothing short of a pain in the @rse. I've tried to talk to the helpdesk but they seem to be about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

I think the patching process has damaged something though because now whenever I load a scenario the camera starts at some random bit of the map on all scenarios.

When I first installed it and pre patch, I'm sure when I was placing consists in surveyor mode, it was automatically assigning drivers and what not so I could create schedules and so on but now it does not do any of that and the little driver panel that normally comes up in driver on the bottom left is not showing up. It seems like one of the game script files is not executing or something. I don't know which ones though as I'm new to the game.

Somebody please help me out before the trainz disc gets it :D

all help much appreciated

Did you installed the patch (SP1) on a clean (as in NEVER OPENED, not even clicked the icon) install of Trainz?

What flavour of Trainz are you working with?

The best way to patch is to have a FRESH installation of Trainz and don't run it and then install the patch. Once done, restart the computer and then run Trainz.

Does that help?

I'll give it one last shot at a clean install and see if that helps, I actually ran trs06 after initial install then patched it after that.

Can someone point me in the direction of a guide for removing trainz completely, Including reg entries, cache and so on as well as what I should do to preserve the downloaded content I have so far.

Again all help appreciated. thanks guys

I can tell you right here.

Just a note, this is if you have installed TRS to the default directory. If you have no idea what that means, then it means you did install it there.

1. Click start.
2. Click Computer.
3. Click the Harddrive you installed TRS to.
4. Click Program Files.
5. Click Auran.
6. Click TRS2006.
7. Hit Ctrl C.
8. Minimize any open programs.
9. Hit Ctrl V. You should now see your local folder being copyed.
10. When done, keep it there, then click start.
11. Click Control Panel.
12. XP: Click Add or Remove Programs. Vista: Click Programs and Features. (This is if your using Classic View, if not, click Classic View on the left.)
13. Click TRS2006.
14. Click Uninstall/Change or Remove/Change. (I'm using Vista at the moment, so I don't remember what it says on XP).
15. Follow the uninstall instuctions. When it asks you to delete the extra files, chose Yes or OK or whatever it says.
16. Re-install TRS2006. At the end, untick View Readme. DON'T OPEN TRS!
17. Install SP1. (The "patch" as you call it.)
18. Call some friends and start a party! Who wants soda? (Optional).:hehe:

There. You're done in 18 (or 17 if don't want a party:hehe: ) steps.

EDIT: Damn, I was beat to it!

Haha, classic.. :hehe: I'm not an absolute spastic mate. I ran my own tech support business for a few years, I've got my own web server and what not and am fairly comfy with unix, perl, php, html, bit of vb and c:.

In all honesty you could have skipped straight to section 16.

But yeah thanks for that.

Anyway still no clue as to what was wrong but eventually got it working, patch was still being funny after clean reinstall but if i kept executing it after it failed it eventually made it to the end and none of the Trainz architecture seems to be damaged this time.

Thanks to all who responded to help, much appreciated.

Done in an hour what took the helpdesk a week, I'll just come here next time
