Problem with TRS2004 installation

I recently upgraded my main hard drive to a WDC 1 Terabyte hard drive, and rather than do a Disk Copy, I decided to back up everything and do a complete reinstall of Win XP, and all related programs, including TRS 2004, ’06, ’09, and ’10.

The installations were successful, except for TRS2004. I keep getting a message saying that my computer hardware, or software is unable to communicate correctly with Trainz, It suggests updating my graphics drivers to the latest update, installing DirectX 9, and trying OpenGl and DirectX settings, all of which have been done. I’m running a Nvidia GE Force 9800 GTX card.

I tried installing TRS2004 on a different drive on the same computer, but to no avail.
I tried different screen resolutions, and experimented with the trainzoptions file without any success. My current screen resolution is 1024 X 768.

I’m wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before, and has any idea how to resolve it.

Thanks, Joe

Hi jrfolco,

I have come across this before. I dont have my Trainz 2004 disc so may not be able to point you in the right direction but you should try to install the directx files off the Trainz disc. Explore the CD and you should find the directx folder there somewhere (possibly in a folder called extras?). In the directx folder look for a set up icon and run the installation from this.

I am not sure if this will work as your computer may tell you that you have a more up to date version than that on the disc but it is worth a try.

I have certainly seen this used as a fix for other games on other forums
