Problem with TRS 2009 World Builder Edition

Hi, I'm new to the forums (even though I know Trainz since the first edition). The problem is easily described: the game won't even start. The installation is completed without problems, but when I try to start the game, a small window called "ricerca cambiamenti oggetti" (roughly translated "search for object changes") pops up and the process freezes at 1/3 of the bar, during the phase "ricerca file oggetti aggiunti" (search for added object files or something like that) and won't complete no matter how much time I wait. Can you help me?

Welcome to the forums, CDB.

Run Trainz Diag, which is located in the directory where Trainz is installed. This will determine if your system has the correct hardware to run the program. One of the main requirements is Open/GL, and namely Open/GL on an NVidia card.

If you wouldn't mind, could you post your machine specs. This would be very helpful.

Thanks for the answer.

Trainz Diag ran automatically the first time I tried to start the game, and the computer passed the test. I have a Pentiun Core2 quad, 4 gb of Ram, Win XP and the graphic card is an ATI Radeon HD 3870x2.

I think it's a problem related to my internet connection. It always takes me ages to load this site, particularly the Download Station (and strangely this happens only here). If the game is updating the object database it means that it is trying to connect to the Download Station, isn't it?

Those popup messages look like the content database being rebuilt - it can take quite a while (takes approximately 20-30 minutes on my Core 2 PC w 6GB) and at times looks like it's not progressing at all.

Just give it plenty of time and it'll probably finish rebuilding the database and startup properly.

Wow, it takes that long?
Thanks, tomorrow I'll start the game and let it work more to see if something changes.
