I recently downloaded the NSW and SRA 49 class locomotives for use in TRS 09, but found that when I used a particular very noisy BR engine sound available in TRS 09, and had them facing back to back (like most multimple lcomotive consists are these days in the real world, they did not react to kindly to being used, and kept on crashing the sim...or just locking up, meaning that I had to manualy close 09 with the right hand button of the mouse (to effect a forced termination) and restart trains...
It seems to me that there may be a conflict between the 49's and the NSW '47a and b' bogeys that are designed for it and the 47's.... I tried changing to another bogey that might not conflict with the 49's but they either look like they are too low and looke like they are earthbound outside the tracks, or too wide and straddle the tracks. These bogeys are very similar to the Alco DL5531 bogeys but they too straddled the outer of the tracks and did not look right, so it was back to the nswgr 47a and b's again...
the problem seems to mainly crop up in the SRA 49's, in TRS 09, but I have not yet been able to establish whether the confilct is between the locomotive and TRS 09, The SRA 49 only, or the SRA 49 and the 47a and b bogeys or what, given that I can usually use most other classes of locomotove in TRS 'back to back' with this particular BR engine sound without any problems or crashing at all...
I do come across a lot of mesh incompatibilities between old DLS creations that were created back in the TRS 2004 era, and the CMP2 of TRS 09, hwen using the CPM, but after repeated clickings on the chain of error messages that come up, the CMP opens to allow me to make changes to engine and horn sounds etc, SAVE, and get the 'Item has been saved successfuly message, go back then in to TRS09, use it, and find that even wtih the red error exclamation mark in CMP it still works without any real problems, or it doesn't....
I have come across this rare example though where the NSW 49's simply refuse to like TRS 09, I did experience that same problem a few times with the 49's in 2006, but the 47's seem to work OK in 06 amd 09 most of the time...
What this seems to be saying is... that there is a lot of old assets in the DLS that need upgrading for use in latter versions of Trainz like TRS 06 and particulary 09, where meshes are out of date, and were at that time only designed for use in TRS 04.... yet some of these old 04 era assets may work quite well, regardless of whether you see a red exclamation mark next to them in the CMP when you commit them.
I wonder whatever happened to Paintshed for 09, I find that I still need to have TRS 06 on my computer if I still want to create Paintshed reskins, though I do know that Paintshed is now also very ancient and may well have been dropped from 09 because of its aged functionality (it was very tired and restrictive, and not really much use apart from being able to use the same templates over and over again....
I am awaiting the release of Trainz 'EE' in the hope that it will have a much better and more versatile Paintshed with a lot more templates and the ability to import and export your assets and templates, something that Paintshed has not been capable of allowing you to do.- thus in the DLS we see countless creators there submitting stuff using the same old templates over and over again.
You look thorugh the DLS and see something new, have a closer look, only to find that ti is yet... another 'Paintshed Reskin'.and you think 'Well! with a bit of basic skill, I could create the same asset myself, no point in downlaoding that one or that one"...so we discard them as 'yeah! Another Paintshed Reskin....
While we all have to start somehwere and submit our assets to the DLS, I am hoping that EE will have a new painthsed capable of allowing us all to create something fare more exciting and more realiistic that just merely rehashing the same old templates all the time...
I would like to be able to add mesh items in Paintshed like aditional fan boxes, different shaped cabs, longer noses like on the old SAR 900.or a body llike th old SAR 800 class shunter, double ended NR's, 92 clases, BL's that you can add your own desired skins to without fuss as easy as you have been able to do in paintshed.
