Problem with terrain HD in TRS22 Platinum

Hello all
Recently I've updated a route in Trainz+ by converting the terrain to HD.
But now when I exported my route to TRS22 Platinum I discovered that the terrain HD is not visible.
Here an example:

A slope in Trainz plus:

Same area in Trainz22 Platinum

I want to note that I do not touch anything, when the route opens, this is the result.
Is it a bug?

Yes, they are the same on both versions.
I also tried to create a new HD baseboard and attach the entire route. The result was the same.
If I try to convert the HD baseboard on SD 5 meters grid, the terrain recovers the lost area:

TRS22 PE only supports HD terrain with an on the fly conversation to an approximately 4 meter mode. I have found the results to be less than desired. I normally convert to 5m as you did.

In my opinion HD terrain is a complete waste!

I have TRS22 PE, but I do not have Trainz Plus. I downloaded a HD terrain route and discovered the same issues within the screenshots above.
I did try to convert the baseboards to 5m here and there until my system crashed

HD terrain is a huge system eater, N3V Games should had really looked into it further before making it an official waste of garbage
Personally, why not fix the shadow rendering issues. I have games with better shadows even MSTS shadows still flexes strongly against shadows in Trainz. You should just remove shadows from inside cabs altogether if you can't fix it.

Perhaps, N3V Games should had fixed the ugly outdated weathering system. That would be nice too
and why NO to dual gauge track system? C'mon!!! It MSTS still the ONLY simulator that provided genuine dual gauge tracks. Seriously, Auran / N3V Games are Queenslanders and they say NO to dual gauge track.. REALLY?
Other than that, Trainz is still pretty good! Just get rid of this HD terrain rubbish and provide fixes that the players has been asking for.

Mmmm, so I have to understand that actually Terrain HD doesn't work outside of the Plus version.
I remember that on the features of trainz 22 PE it clearly says that this version of trainz is compatible con terrain HD.
I feel a bit cheated because it's not what I bought. In my opinion, the two versions should be complementary, not exclusive.

Well, I made that point back when TRS22 was released three years ago and all that happened was I got yelled at by N3V. There was and still are two reasons for the confusion. The page listing the features of TRS22 started talking about Trainz Plus and its features. It still does. Second, after reading about HD Terrain in Trainz Plus, you scrolled down to TRS22's feature list and found HD Terrain compatibility mode with just an asterisk. Scrolling down to the end of the long page, you found the details. TRS22 could load Trainz Plus HD Terrain routes and run them in Driver but they could not be edited in HD mode and saved. This was due to the route being loaded into Driver in a special mode that converted the route into 4m terrain while it ran in Driver. Now the TRS22 PE page doesn't even mention anything about HD Terrain or a compatibility mode in Driver.

The second confusion comes when starting a new route in TRS22 PE where the Edit Route dialog has the Route Edit Detail choice of SD or HD. Many people believe that this refers to choosing an grid of HD Terrain to start building your route. It doesn't. This is a Trainz Plus only feature which limits the size of the brush when working in HD Terrain in Trainz Plus. In TRS22, it does nothing. If you choose HD and then lower the size of the brush below 5 meters. The ring turns red and it functions as it it was set to 5m.

Correct. You can load a HD route created in Trainz Plus into TRS22PE but it will be "dumbed-down" to the normal Trainz (non-plus) resolution. TRS22 (standard) will not load a HD route at all.

As pointed out by @wreeder above, the SD and HD options in the Route Editor window only apply to HD routes in Trainz Plus - why they also appear in TRS22 is a mystery to me as well.

In Trainz Plus selecting the HD option in the Route Editor gives you access to all HD features and controls including a brush size for terrain and textures down to 0.12m (12cm) in size. Selecting the SD option also gives you access to all HD features and controls but with a minimum brush size of 2m - unlike a 2m brush under 5m/10m resolution routes the brush will not be restricted to the grid lines (it will not turn red in areas where it will not work). The SD option gives you much faster terrain and texture painting in HD routes in areas where the finer detail given by smaller brushes is not needed.

In my opinion HD terrain is a complete waste!
I have to disagree. There are currently some very good HD routes but all are small in terms of the number of baseboards. That, to me at least, is the first hurdle that needs to be overcome. As @PhilChorusch01 points out in post #5 above, HD is a huge resource eater - a HD baseboard contains 6400x the data of a 10m baseboard and 1600x the data of a 5m baseboard so a "medium" sized route in HD can easily exceed the size limit for uploading to the DLS (about 500MB) or even for saving as a .cpd file (maximum 1GB). The compression level used with Trainz Plus and TRS22PE routes was recently increased significantly but still not enough to deal with large routes. More work is needed there.

Phil also points out other issues in HD that will need to be looked at. But you have to start somewhere. How often have users complained in these forums about the lack of higher detail (or even "video quality") graphics in Trainz for the terrain and textures? HD is, in my opinion at least, a first step in that direction.

I don't use HD terrain simply because my current project is far too big - I did do a trial conversion to HD which took many minutes to complete but the resulting file size in CM was eye-watering. Plus it did not (and obviously could not) automatically convert low resolution terrain into high detail - that I would have to manually do myself.
