Problem with Surveyor in 2006

I found a route on the DLS called SeaPort1 by smooz. I downloaded it with CMP, and then opened it in surveyor. All I could see was the terain mesh, no tracks or any thing else. I then found the minimap, which had tracks, roads, and water as (I assume a tga file) cyan, red and blue.

Realizing that I did not know what I was doing, I wandered around the web and found a couple of tutorials. From what I can see, smooz has done the DEM, TIGER thing and then packaged the route up and uploaded to the DLS.

But the turorial that I was looking at was for T2004, not T2006 and at the end of the tutorial, they showed opening the mini map and RMB on a section of track to orient the grid and minimap. THis works okay, but then they showed closing the minimap and zooming in, and seeing a cyan line on the grid, and placing track using that. I get nothing but grid! no colors or lines other than the bog standard grid lines.

I tried opening the minimap, and clicking to lay track on that, and that didn't work either. I tried puting a section of track on the grid, and noticed that on the minimap, there was a faint black line that wasn't there before. I then got things sort of lined up, so I could have the minimap open, and see the track. I then found that I could move the track and the faint black line moved on the minimap.

Is T2006 that much different than T2004 in this respect? There has to be a better way to do this.

The other glitch was when I hit the undo button, a whole section of the minimap just disappeared! Is this normal??

Help:confused:

Bob is correct. You need to install the textures into TRS2006.

You need to use CMP to do this.

1) Unzip the textures to a folder of choice.

2) Import them using CMP by browsing to the folder within CMP, and choosing import.

This will bring them into Trainz, but you need to commit them before they're available.

3) Select them all in the Open-for-edit tab. Click on one then press (CTRL-A) to grab the rest.

4) Press CTRL-M to commit them to Trainz.

Ignore steps 3 & 4 if you have CMP set to automatically commit files that are imported.

While I have not been on line for a while I think I may be to help here if nothing has changed.

The Hog files are very necessary for this to work properly and the advice give is quite corret however getting them from the TrainzLuver site can be a pain :( . The other point is that you onlu need about 4 - 5 of the 16 or so in the package. If you do not want all of them and are having problem then contact me and I will send the ones you need.

It worked!! Thanks for the help:)

I imported the whole textures folder. From seeseeme's post, it looks like I really only needed a few of them. Did I do a "bad" thing? Or is it just wasted HD space? If importing all just uses disk space, I'm not too worried, as I has around 150GB free on that drive:D .

HI PDX_Mike, you have not done anything wrong at all. I was just warning you about the difficulties from the past. You can use "place" all the textures in your 2006 folder but the only ones needed for DEM files that sounds llike you have downloaded on are as follows;
HOG 64 to HOG 71 - 8 of them and I am not sure if all of those are need. I use a couple for special projects of my own and you may find this handy for your own work in the future.

Happy you where able to get them and the link from rweber95 works still.

All the best,

Craig
