Problem with saving and resuming

Hi I hope someone can help me. I just recently purchased TRS 12 and installed the Montana Rail Link route. I've modified the route and laid new rail, and added switches and signals. I'll start playing it in driver mode and everything will be ok. Then when I try and save it and go back to resume it in driver mode. A message will pop up and say Unable to Plot Route Junction is Missing Lever, then the game will crash on me. Which isn't true because all of my switch levers are where they're supposed to be. How can I fix this problem, it's really irritating!

Hello Steven. TRS12 has had irresolvable problems with saving and resuming sessions. Heaven knows when this will be fixed by N3V. Sorry.

Kory go back and check your switches! On the front of each switch you laid you know by the point. if there is no handle or lever then open the track editor in survayer. Then you must select the sign that show a little switch going like three ways or it look like a railroad grade crossing sign post. But you click that circle then type in switch stand or what ever the throw levers are on your layout then place one in there. It should correct the error because without points the train would surely derail!

Cheers William

As the previous poster stated, go back and check again. Sometimes when you create a new turnout (switch) the lever does not get installed. That has happened to me.

However Trainz 12 DOES let you ignore having a switch as long as it has been created there in the first place. All switches do is force the track to go in one specific direction. Removing a switch makes it impossible to change the direction (E.G: Make a rusty old siding that cannot be accessed). This is why road vehicles always take the left road, ignoring all other factors as you cannot get a switch for roads.

My line is mostly single track. All of the switches at the facing points of sidings are lined normally (for the main) like they should be. They are all power switches. I don't use hand throw switches for sidings at all.

Kory,

Whether you have power switches or manual throw switches, is not the issue. Trainz will place a lever, and if you've ever built a route before. By default it is that big red thing that sticks out of the ground.

There are two ways to look for a missing lever:

1) Go into Surveyor and literally walk the tracks while looing face down at the ROW. Check ever switch for a missing lever as you go along.
This method works most of the time, but if you have a ton of baseboards, you may end up zoning out and not see the error.

2) The other way to find a missing lever uses driver.

If you have a bunch of drivers, look in your driver list for the one that won't move, either at the beginning, or past a particular spot. Climb in his cab and take over the drive. You'll be able to spost the missing lever very easily that way, When you find the missing lever, jot down the location, open up Surveyor, and fix your problem.

Hi Steven - Nobody mentioned the layer trick. If you placed your new rail and switches in the session layer you might have problems when resuming a game. Go to the layers tab and merge the route and session layers, or move the assets to the route layer.

If you lay new track that attaches to an existing spline point then the lever is not automatically included.

Hey Trevor, I deleted and then re-installed Montana Rail Link. I've re-layed some rail on a short segment of it and kept it on route layer. I set up a meet and then saved the game and it saved perfectly. So thank you so much!
