Day do doh dont day doh
This weekend's model rail show at Preston (9,10, Jan 2010) has been cancelled due to the bad weather. I have posted this because they usually have a display featuring Trainz, Msts, Rail simulator/railworks.

Never mind that.
The bloody Football has been cancelled!

Now that's just not on.
You'd think Britain had never seen snow before :o

Smiley.

No way!

what, that is not right, they could have moved the showtime up on the calendar to a clear day instead of canceling, that sort of thing makes people upset and sometimes angry but it snowed there before and I don't see a reason why they should not attend the show!:o

You obviously have no idea as to what is happening here at the moment. We have had the worst snowfall for 30 years and much of the country is paralysed. As this is such a rare event, Britain, unlike say the Eastern Seabord, does not invest so much in snow clearance equipment, that would be needed so infrequently, causing taxpayers to grumble even more about tax increases. One has to work on probabilities. As regards re-scheduling the show, this is not as easy as you might think. Is the hall available? Can the exhibitors and dealers make the new date? What about publicity for the new date? etc.

well, since you put it that way, I'm sorry about that previous post, I just don't understand the severity of the situation!:(

Don't worry. I doubt if the American TV even thought it worth mentioning the problems of a little offshore island like the UK. Fortunately for me, we live in the only part of Britain (south Dorset) that seems to have escaped the snow. Another problem is, having so little snow, very few drivers know how to drive on it. Being an oldie, I learnt to drive in the days when we had regular snowfalls and the roads were rarely gritted (there was also much less traffic) and had to endure the previous two bad snowfalls of 1963 and 1978.

Today was the first day this winter here that it was as cold as 15 degrees C, so no tropical shirts or short wearing anywhere to be found, what's snow? :D

Lucky Scotland has had -21 degrees C!
Here in t' North (I'm Southern myself though :D :p) we have a pretty decent amount of snow, receiving more everyday so far. Snowball fights all round... and ice

Still, at least I've had 2 days off school this week from the snow, and another which was a holiday :p so only 2 days at school, and one of them was only for the first 3 lessons too! :D
:)
