Premetro Line for a Subway System

Hello everyone. On my East Bay Transit Authority route in Trainz 2012, I'm trying to figure out how to create a premetro line on the route. I'm leaning toward using tracks, tunnels, stations, and catenary created by alterr, one of the greatest route creators in the history of trainz. His U-Bahn Frankfurt routes are absolutely amazing. However, I'm trying to stay original and not use content that would lead to missing dependencies.

My question is this: What tracks, tunnels, stations, catenary (with track, as a spline, or as a spline with track), and rolling stock with destination signs that can be changed easily should I use for my new Premetro line? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

And I do apologize for not being active on here very often. I've been busy with college courses. The East Bay Transit Authority Version 6 route should be completed in the distant future but I'm still working on it.

Take care, keep up the good work, and stay awesome!

It all depends upon where in the world you are modeling.

European routes will use different trams or subway cars than those in the UK or US, or even Australia. The infrastructure will be different as well. If you are going for regular trolley-type vehicles instead of LRVs you might opt for tram poles and wires from Paul Z. May. If you want more standardized catenary like that used on Boston's Blue Line or even the Green Line now, there are many creators for that from all over the world. The thing is you need to find a system that will work for your system.

@JCitron

Thank you for your response. I'm looking for a more standardized catenary system like Boston's Blue Line. Since my subway route is based in the US, I would like my premetro line to be in the USA region.

If that's the case, then we can narrow down the catenary choices. The MBTA Blue Line initially used catenary bridges made for the Boston Revere Beach & Lynn Narrow Gauge line. These were simple trusses which held the catenary and insulators. Today that has been replaced with a very simple angle iron type system which is similar to some that I have seen on the Swiss Railroads and elsewhere in Europe. I recommend looking at some of the catenary systems used in Germany, the UK or even Denmark. You might have problems with UK catenary due to the height difference, however, the others may work fine.

I was wondering what specific rolling stock I should use. The platforms will need to be high leveled but I don't know what rolling stock I should used. Rolling stock that has doors can open/close, changeable destination signs, can load/unload/terminate passengers, have lights, and a workable pantograph that can touch the catenary wires.

This part gets complicated. There are the German DB Type 423s and 430s (engines and trailers), which look great but are not US. I suppose some reskinning might be possible but I've never had super luck reskinning trains - just reworking spline textures it seems.

These trains I think have working destination signs along with pantographs and other details. If not perhaps the Dutch or Danish content might be suitable. If you want UK stock, look at their different EMUs. I don't know what they are with pantographs, but the third-rail variety are Class 465 or something like that. Then there is Japanese content, however, these will require some reworking due to the different rail gauge so this means replace bogies, and I'm not sure if the destination signs are change able or not.
