Tony, if you are going to allow it for pre ordering, make sure most of the bugs are well and truly out of it! :-P The less I see of the Jet Crash window, the better (as compared to previous versions).

I pre-ordered my copy of TC3 and waited, waited and waited for the product. Long after it had been received by folks in the UK, I was still waiting - A digital download was available long before I received the pre-ordered copy - so not this time! I'll wait for the digital download to be available and then get it!

Having finally managed to bend, beat.and cajole TC3 into running well, I am loathe to take on another manifestation of Trainz, just yet. Especially,as I am totally confused as to what I would get for my money. The information provided up to now,to say the least,is sketchy, and certainly not enough to state categorically, that I would pre-order.

I just voted to pre-order so I thought I would add a comment.

Until people can let me know more about what the needed computer spec are for TR2009, I will probably not install it now. My computer needs an upgrade and if my plans work that will happen early next year. That is my my only problem at the moment, my current computer is 4 years old.

I'm in the same boat. Pre-order but not install until I have a updated computer.

Could we have some better information about the various programs please.

This sounds silly but many people look at the box and see that the recommended machine for TRS2004 is lower powered than that for TRS2006 or TC3.

Therefore they think it's not worth upgrading since they'll get even worst frame rates.

May I suggest taking a session on a layout prehaps a TRS2004 default one and benchmarking it in TRS2004, TRS206 and TC3 on a single core cpu and again on a dual core machine so people can see that buying TC3 does not mean they have to upgrade their machine and if you have a dual core machine TC3 can take advantage of it. Ideally this could be done with a low end graphics card and a more modern high end graphics card. If Auran doesn't have the resources to do this perhaps the community could do it? We certainly have the range of machines.

When TRS2009 is ready this could be added to the table.

Many thanks

I'll be pre-ordering for 2 reasons: Auran needs the money :) and the new higher-poly grid looks great! BUT--I won't be installing it until I see how the eager early adopters do with it, and if necessary wait for the first service pack...

I will not be pre-ordering considering how long it took for me to get my Content Creation Art Source order. I haven't bought TC3 because I can't find a store around here that has it and I'm not up for waiting 3 months for my purchase to arrive.
Also, until I know that my machine can handle 09, I won't be purchasing (even if I can find it on the shelves anywhere).

Hello all,

It certainly would be helpfull to have this kind of information so that the community can indeed make an informed purchasing decision.

Before the release of TC3, I stated in the forums that I would certainly pre-order 2009 when the time came. After waiting what felt like an eternity I finally recieved my copy of TC3 and found to my disappointment that I was unable to play any of the supplied routes or sessions. My machine meets the minimum requirements for TC3 but even with all sliders to their lowest settings, I get frame rates of only 3fps and it takes over 15 minutes to load. The only way i can get TC3 to perform acceptably is to create simple routes with little to no scenery.

Content creation in 2009 will require normal maps which I can not get working because i have invested in ATI rather than NVidia. It took me all summer to create a textured cube in Blender and I will never be able to afford 3dsmax, so for me, 2009 does not appear to be worth purchasing. I love to create objects and I want to share them but I am a bit of a perfectionist so if I were to purchase 2009 my creations would have to meet that standard and since I will not be able to do so - well you can guess.

In my books that is 3 hits against.

I certainly can not afford to upgrade my hardware and the software requirements for content creation (3dsMax, NVidia normal map software, Photo shop) are rediculous.

For now I will go back to 2004 and gmax and create the objects in that standard. I have wasted too much time trying to get normal and bump maps working.

Don't get me wrong - I want and hope for Auran to succeed. If I win a lottery I'll upgrade and jump back on the bandwagon. I really think Auran is heading in the right direction for the long run but unfortunately we live in the current time with current means.

I won't be pre-ordering it. I'll be waiting to see what the initial (excuse the terminology, no offence intended) guinea pigs have to say about it in the forum......
If the post launch "BETA TESTERS"/guinea pigs aren't complaining in the forum after a month or two, I'll then order the boxed version. (that's also assuming Auran/there shippers have got their shipping problems sorted out)!!!!!!!
If there's lots of problems being discussed in the forum because it's been launched to soon, with lots of bugs, I'll wait till TRS2009 SP1 is available.
Hopefully Auran will get it properly "BETA tested" first, before it launched...
It's quite simple really;
The more bug free & backward compatible it is, the more people that will buy it...(me included).
Hopefully Auran will get it right this time... (& make millions)...
Cheers, Mac...

I was fine with '04, and '06 was a just "OK", but I was so impressed with TC3, that I'll definitely pre-order '09 - regardless of its content. :)

Actually two, since I now have my uncle hooked into Trainz. :D

Pre-order

 Just voted for pre-order.
Bring it on I love the challenge.
TRAINZ all versions keep the old brain in gear.
Peter.

I'm not sure about pre-ordering becuase I just want all the module in one game :'( - I don't want 'World builder' and 'Driver' Editions!!! I'm just sticking with 06 (I don't care what you 06 haters say: 06 was (and still is) a great game with loads of avalible content!)

I'd inform myself about exactly what the 'World Builder' edition is if I were you.

Isnt the World Builder edition the whole thing and the other a slimmed down version?

Also, there is nothing wrong with 06, it has the most conetyent and when you use its dependencies in TC there are no glitches:)

They say that the two versions will operate seemlessyly with each other. I wonder if 06 andTC will run seemlessly with '09 because TC came with barely anything and it was necessary to merge w/ 06.
