Pioneer Tunnel is great !

As well as: Landford Coal Mine-Landford Pa (great underground tour), Seldom Seen Coal Mine-St Boniface Pa (rarely open, so it is seldom seen).

the steam train the henry clay runs on 3/4 mile trip to stop at the middle of the line to hear the story of the underground mine fire. then at the end of the line there is a receation of a bootleg mine.

the pionner tunnel has two lokies the henry clay one and henry clay 2. henry clay one you see pulling the passenger train. henry clay 2 is the back up lokie last fired up in 2002. they both burn anthricite coal.

the pionner tunnel was once part of the Reading Anthrcite Coal Company a subdivsion of the Reading Company railroad.

there is still Reading Anthricite coal company at the Pionner Tunnel. on the mine carts you ride on the mine tour.
