Picklist - moving from one install to another

I have several installs of build 119450. I have created several picklists on one of these installs. Is there an easy way to duplicate these picklists on the other install?

While this method works great, why couldn't there have been an "Export/Backup Picklists" feature?

Click on Content.
Click on Export/Backup Picklists.

A box opens up where the picklists are listed.
Click on the desired picklist.

An explorer window opens up to browse where the list is to be saved with the given name being the default.

Click on the OK button and the list is saved.

Here's I've done the overview, now it's up to the Brew Crew to write the code.

This one is right up there with restoring from backups with this question being asked just as often.

I followed the steps in the second link and it does not work for me. I was successful in transferring the assets to Notepad. The problem occurs in step 5 - Open CM in the destination Trainz and create a new filter. I did this. When I try to paste the contents from my Notepad file all I get is one asset copied. not the whole list even though this is what I had selected. I don't get the entire listing of assets as shown in the illustration in step 5.

What step am I missing?

It seems that Step 5 is missing a few minor adjustments.

The sequence should read..

  1. in the copy of Trainz where the Picklist is being transferred, open Content Manager
  2. start a new Custom filter
  3. delete the filter line Installed if it is present
  4. paste the asset list into the Asset KUID box

I have amended the instructions, specifically the new step 3 above, to fix this error.

If you see any assets labelled "Available for download" then download them before saving the new picklist.

Thanks for pointing this out to me.

Thanks for the help. I think I have it. The only thing is the picklist now shows up as a filter and is not listed with my other picklists. This is OK since I now have the complete list available.

I figured it out. I forgot to do step 6 which creates the list under picklist.

After going through the learning curve on this I agree with John. There needs to be a simpler way to do this.
