Philadelphia (Work In Progresss) (Large pics)

Good evening everyone. I just wanted to share my progress again. Before I do, I wanted to plug some routes that are closer and much more fun releases than anything going on in here. I'm working too, but looking at these beauties sure slows me down!:

Amtrak2041864's NCCE (Me thinks he just doesn't want to be sued :hehe:):

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?91720-North-Coast-Commuter-Express(NCCE)

I remembered the wrong name as making this tuturial. It is BlakeDooley's that I am thinking of: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...istic-Turnouts-Tutorial&highlight=blakedooley

My apologies to you both. I have begun to replace the junctions, but with these junctions, this is no place to start trying:

To show I am nearing the end with these buildings (Happy that I can show all sides now):

NEARING is the key word lol. Still some playing around to do. I'm focusing more on track replacement which will help me fix the incline adjustments I made using the junction kit. Until next time, thank you for your time.

Nice work! Really know how to bring someone spirits up.
;)

Thank you for learning from my turnout tutorial! I hope it helped you out a lot. A problem has been raised in the tutorial thread that the junction seems to be too sharp for regular freight/passenger service. I tend to think it is quite suiting if the line has low speeds. In areas of higher speed, I suggest just scaling the turnout to make a comfortable turn.

Good evening everyone. While doing this project, I have learned so much from you all. Through your posts and pictures, it has helped me get better. It's time to put it to use and build something attractive. I am starting from the ground up now. I am relaying all of the track because if anything, I want this to run as prototypical as possible if I want it to be interesting. I am trying to keep the spacing more uniform to make the most out of what's already available. I also see I could do a better job with the roads. I looked into how you guys did your city streets. I see that I tried to wanted to capture everything about every street. That led to cluttering things up. I am staying in this area until it's finished, but with a definite focus of finishing an area before I move on. It won't take long at all to relay it all. This way I can ensure each section is working as it should. These pictures are just to show what I mean. Future shots will certainly be more complete, as the standard usually is in the forums.

I finally understand signalling!! :) I can't say I'm spot on, but I can get it now (Love the JR smart signals, and loving the SAXRT NYC version). I have the regular JR signals if it's more accepted. I spent the past week bouncing from "why has no one answered anyone's question of how to set the smart signals up?" to rereading the tutorials here: http://trains.0catch.com/tutorial.html#index

It took a week to figure out they need a train to be near to show the proper aspects :o:

Can't work on street level until the underground is secured. I get that too now. Just the rest of where I'm currently working on. Track first, then working outwards:

I thank you all for still looking in, being so helpful, and for inspiring improvement always.

Hello all. I saw too many pictures of messiness in my work, so I stopped posting. In that time, I've moved onto my desktop now, which by effect, gave me a cleaner asset list to work from as well as a MOUSE! (previously used touchpad). I'd rather build from what's available rather than build things myself. It's faster, and you guys do a better job of that. I will add something of my own to this, but only if it isn't available. I haven't shown south before because it's been done twice that I know of, and both of them are great. I went south for a change of pace and to warm back up before I head north. I won't call this prototypical, I'm just trying to make sure it runs how it's supposed to. I'm setting this up more in blocks, not just "trying to signal every junction". With the other 2 NEC routes, you know what you're on, and where you're at just by looking out of the window. That's what I want here too. Here we go:

Here! I got the crazy idea to work here:

Runway and Taxiway are working (currently 4 planes can fly a loop and hit separate terminals without problems). I don't know why I wired them:

Thanks Amtrak. I've gained a little speed with building this now. Nothing earth shattering, but I have moved north into the Coach yard area through the Keystone Corridor interchange. I'll show when it's more complete, but I'm liking the results. I wanted to show 2 pictures of something I could add. This was my first test with my own backdrop. Credit to Spock2004 for being my inspiration to try:

Night (with Spock2004's Backdrop Towers 2006 next to mine):

I don't mention the technical terms much, so I can understand the doubts on how this will run. Trust that I'm a big enough fan of all the previous work done by creators, that I put in the time to learn terms when needed. I'm really a fan, so enjoyment of what you see is my first priority, so that's where I start. I learned all about catenary this past week. I now know that "Gantry" is more than just a type of signal :hehe:. Not fun to talk about. In the end I went with using what gives you the look of being on an electrified route. Pictures will definitely do the talking instead of me that's why I mentioned that.

You've certainly outdone TPR's rendition, that's for sure. Amazing detail, I'm loving it. I'll be starting at UPenn in the summer, so I'll eventually be able to recognize many of the landmarks you've depicted here.

Thanks Scott. Couple pics of the Coach yard in it's current state. Showing now due to frustration over not adjusting the catenary before I did the whole thing. It's fixed now. Cira Center shown really for display. We saw what I went thru trying to build mine.

The track next to the Loco would be better fit for here. Anyone have a suggestion?

Roof taken off for the next task

Next tasks: Add the beginnings of Path control, finishing 30th street station lower level, then move onto Powelton yard, Then I do the upper level and head North.

This is coming along nicely, it brings back memories of when my parents would go visit my grand parents as we always drove the expressway by 30th street. At that time it was filled with Tuscan red passenger cars and a B1 electric switcher. I even caught a freight or 2 on the high line.

Thank you very much Ken. That's what I'm trying to do. An update is in the works, using up all my resolve to not update before my last goals are accomplished. I will say that I can't have a picture thread name Philadelphia and not have anything like....

That was a reskin. Inspired me today to (work in progress)...

I'll spend one more day trying to get this looking even better.

Edit: I don't want to spend another full day, so I went back to it. This was just to add to traffic. I'll adjust the seams in the morning. I also forgot to take a picture of the rear.

I spent more time researching path controlling than it took to do most of this.

I'm changing over to the naming in the charts I have:

Rest is mostly randomness

Trying to clean things up, and I found some water ( I haven't made it back here since I'm renaming junctions and signals now):

I did add Boat's ATLS for the areas around 30th street so far, and customized the region. I only have about 7 vehicles so far, that's why so many buses. Market Street:

Chestnut and Walnut Streets now:

That was mostly done before I started on route control and to keep focus while I explored options. Mostly scenery for now.

Interesting that you chose to use the Tri-light signals here. IIRC, the line here uses combination CL/PL signals with Green/Vertical, Yellow/Slanted, and Red/Horizontal aspects.

Thanks Scott for helping me choose a side. I used the trilights because I can understand the RYG signal. I've been debating in my head these signals. I have to read into them to understand them. I'm redoing signalling now in more protoypical fashion.
