original layouts and layers

In the latest version of Trainz, would not be possible to keep the original layout, get the layout modified and/or add all kinds of assets (including rails and texture) in using layers sessions only for these modifications?
Like this, the original author is satisfied as he we view his own layout in "routes" but we see a modified layout in "sessions" since we would be the ones who created the session.

Surely you can do this by saving the layout/route under a different name? - for your own use only, of course, not for uploading as your own work.

OK. I knew about that and it's only fair to recognize the person who have created the layout. That is why I ask if it would be possible, even though we keep the original route to protect the person's work in the layer route, to create a session under my own kuid but with having the opportunity to modifie that layout and keeping the modifications by having them within that session only and by using session layers.

You must open the new session layer. Look at Layers Quickstart Guide

Hi celje,
I have seen that thread but it does not say that the original layout will be kept under the creator's name when you make a new session with adding, let's say a track for example or a texture in an added baseboard

good thread is "Layers" = Lame too.

When you will read this threads, then you wiil see that some limitation exists. In general you can put in additional objects, MIN's, industry, rules, schedules and trains. But it's impossible to replace (change) anything of the original route, or e.g. track spline by using 'replace tool' in surveyor, or replace the textures or any spline.

You can add track in the session layer as long as it connects to an existing spline point. Your new track can then accomodate an interactive industry or portal.
