Opengl on Vista 64 and nvidia 8800GT

Hi Guys

I can't run trainz 2009 Opengl on Vista64 bit with a 8800 gt videocart.
When I do that I'm missing menu-items.
When running the game with directx the game works just fine but some buildings are ugly. Lightning in the windows is ugly. When I run it on an other pc with opengl everything looks fine.
All drivers are up to date.
Anyone experienced this?

guess you have installed the video card yourself and forgot to load the drivers from nvidia....
You should do this
But you are running Vista... Open GL was great. I wish it still was but in reality direct X is best for big layouts or for vista... So go use direct X.
You will also find TRS2006 will not alow you to edit content in CCP. This is because Vista 64 has not support for dot net 1. CCP uses dotnet 1.
I also wounder what other things are missing from your computer Like if you really did forget to load your video card or just thought windows would do that for you

Well I kinda have the same problem... I however am in ever worse shape than yourself.

No matter what video settings I use. Directx or OpenGL I have no menus at all.. What i mean by this is my game loads or I should say gives me the splash screen and sometimes takes me to the next screen..

Note the blue Load bar NEVER moves....

The next screen that I do get "sometimes" is the main page.

At the top left i should have a "Main Menu" however it is missing. The box where the button should be is there..

All the read more links are there however do not function. At the bottom of the page where the buttons should be are all missing however I do see the dots.

All my driver are up to date, I have reinstalled 3 times now. I have even tried installing as administrator and made sure anti virus was off..

I have sent in support ticket however they seem to be clueless at this moment.

I far exceed the recommendations for TS2009

I run Vista Ultima 32b

Dual Core Intel 2.4

Geforce 8800

Side note:

It does show me as logged in at the top right and oddly enough the help or "?" in the top right works rather well..

It even opens the help wiki pages

so what are your settings under rightclick on desktop, click nvidia control panel, (view advanved mode) manage 3D Settings

Are you running as Administer? You have to do this in Vista to run Trainz.

What version of the driver are you using?

The current one as of the end of May is 185.85 and the control panel is a seperate download. I've been able to get some good performance using the new C-panel.

There is a custom profile built-in to NVidia for Trainz. Use the one for TRS2004, and browse for your TS2009, or even TRS2006. The settings are pretty good to start with. After that I enabled AA for the max as well as Anistrophic filtering for the MAX.

I would like to post my settings for you to see, but I don't feel like typing them all. If I can find the text-version of the profile, I'll post it here for you to see.

My system is similar to yours by the way. My video card is the 8800GTS 640MB, and I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I was running Vista Ultimate 64-bit prior and the performance was about the same, perhaps a little slower, but not too bad.
