ONLY Trainz sound (also TRS22) stop working: remote click home or wakeup sleep mode

Rembrandt van Trainz
This is a very old problem I still have and most annoying.
testing sessions etc i need sound to work.
But each time i hit for some purpose my samsung tv remote home button and change e.g. run game mode on or auto or off or anything else useful to test the trainz sound is gone and not come back until I restart trainz!!!
I tested this with other games and apps but ONLY trainz is gifted with that stupid annoying feature.
Would love to hear from somebody with same problems how to fix this .
No have no separate sound cables all go thru hdmi best quality cable currently available.
Other apps and games no problem.
I can put the computer sleep and open later and all apps EXCEPT trainz will have sound!

Roy,

If you are using blue-tooth or wireless audio devices, you are going to have trouble. Trainz, like some other programs I'm aware of, need the audio device to be selected when you start the program. The problem with wireless or blue-tooth audio devices is they go to sleep and disappear, so Trainz loses the device and can't find it again. I ran into the same issue with a pair of blue-tooth headphones. The similar thing will happen if your computer goes to sleep and disconnects from the audio device that's plugged in. It's quite annoying and frustrating.

My solution was to plug old-fashioned speakers in and now I use a new SoundBlaster audio card. The built-in audio wasn't cutting it for my music work with Pianoteq software stuttering and pausing when the CPU got busy. I also don't let the computer go to sleep except for my monitors.

Most pc games, programs etc are quite happy if you switch audio output stream. For example, change from speakers to headphones. Trainz doesn’t - it continues to use the audio output available when its program was started.

the only cure is a rewrite of the code….

dear Col and John,

surprised i get posts and not expect the answer which in trainz terms total BS for any user of a Samsung 65 4k tv with all the bells and whistles and i have a pair of excellent hammerhead X wireless earpods.
What it takes for them to grow up and not constantly squeeze the content creators as fresh lemons and not even think of delivering basic things like audio that works with todays technology.

There are to many things in S.20 and classic that makes me wonder how we hae to jump left and right up and down to make a unfinished surveyor work normally.
Info menu in s2.0 if working on details making route etc you use the down arrow constantly to alter coordinates x y z and they managed again that you cannot have the detailed info stay but have to click a thousand times for each change. Was similar in classic so only cosmetic change in that regard to me.
Bookmarks when working in s.20 oops well we have g but otherwise bookmarks you have to go to classic, come the UI is for me at its lowest level ever!
The forum UI and way of using it is similar to the audio debacle.

I try to make the best of it but not happy although before the launch of 2.0 my first impression was wow this gonna be a game changer and indeed it is but for me different as you can see.
enough rant back to my cave.

S2.0 is still a work in progress and not all functions are placed at the moment. There are a lot of new ways of doing things like duplicating an asset on the route which gives a copy of the same height and orientation and can be moved to a new place.

If you are on Windows 11 there a few reports of odd things not working with sound after resuming from sleep etc, may be related to that or may not.
Not had any issues myself however I don't use hibernation fast start etc, when I'm not using a PC it's fully switched off.

No fast start or hibernation for me either. In fact, I ended up turning off power management and CPU throttling because that affects my digital piano software due to throttling.

Speaking of issues, you might want to take a look at this one.

Intel CPU Performance Takes a Big Hit Due to Windows Defender Bug | PCMag

There's a workaround for this by using this utility here:

ThrottleStop (9.5) Download | TechPowerUp

TechPowerUp makes CPUz and other nice utilities and it was one of the developers that discovered and reported the bug to Microsoft. The utility has other tweaking options if you want to go that route, but I only use it for the Defender fix.

I noticed a big difference. Prior to running this utility, I was seeing 6 to 10% CPU usage on startup, and I have nothing in my start-up other than the basics.

There seems to be a dispute over the Defender Performance hit on Intel CPUs as it is not affecting everyone, I tested my i5-10440 rig and it made zero difference on Cinebench results with defender running or with it disabled, running defender was just using 0.1% of CPU time. There is another thought that it's actually related to having Virtualization enabled, I don't, whatever the cause, I think the discoverer is looking at the wrong cause, and yes I carried out al the recomended test, mainly out of curiosity
One point is that if you are not a member of the Benchmarking club you probably wouldn't have even noticed.
Only gen 7 to 11 Intel CPUs affected, older than gen7 and Gen12 are not affected and AMD are not affected at all.;)

Hi stagecoach thanks for the reply.
Yes I am fully aware of this nad not complain as such on the fact it is still WIP but the fundamentals of what they program and offer is sort of getting from time to time under my skin.
I see surveyor as the word says (to me) serveying is working active on things so need the full tools for surveying at the tip of my fingers.
So what they cal advanced menu in surveyor classic is exactly wwhat needs NOT tob be an advanced BUT a basic always open menu and if one not like the menu's open make it a basic menu if to close the 'advanced menu"
Now learning from years of experience and usage one think n3v learns from users request and simply implement something like said they make exactly the same mistake in detail info menu the arrow up /down should be always open for advanced working which is basic and make the arrow close for the 'visitors' not liking to see to much of menu 'open' not using it.

Sorry for the rant yesterday I just get fed up as an old "grumpy" with the daily real world bad news and think/hope my cave trainz world gives me the canabis feeling which I never ever had or take btw. hahaha.

Living in my cave sitting most of my time at my commandcentre overlooking a presteen lush tropical valley and mountains in my backyard thru the windows makes me feel very spoiled.
Far away from the nearest village and really only nature and no other noise than birds and my labs and wife and grumpy me in between makes up my way of living in paradise on an island in the highlands of thailand.
