Old British trams

Hello guys

So yesterday I went to the Heaton Park Tramway for the day helping out, you know, carrying sleepers about, measuring for new trolley wire... and I noticed just how stunning the old trams are. Whenever I searched for trams through CMP I would skip the old ones altogether but now...my God they look good

I was just wondering, can anyone suggest to me some good old UK trams that work? I don't want to spend 20 minutes downloading a 4MB asset and then it not work...who does?

Also, could someone please point me to some old tram infrastructure such as a shed?

I'd be very grateful for the help :)

Jack

Hi, Not sure what kind of trams you are looking for as there are loads in DLS to choose from, along with all the accessories you will need. To find it all In Content manager put in keywords then tram . As for a reasonable shed try the bus garages that are available I'm sure one of them will suit your needs.

Hi there :) I've downloaded a few but they appear to be faulty :( I'm currently looking through the keywords search for "tram" so lets see what I can find, thank you!

You may want to look at Silversmith kuid ID 62391 he has done a load of UK Trams and just looking at the large list has done some for TC 1-2 - TS2009 & TRS2004

I have silversmith's trams working in TS2010 and TS12 SP1. There's a bit of fiddling in the repairs for TS12 but none of them are difficult.

Hey guys. I downloaded a couple of silversmith's trams and they had a few errors with them, mainly to do with attachment points etc... :(

Jack

Hi Jack,

Post the errors here and we can help.

Usually the attachment points can be deleted because I think these belong to non-existent passenger seating points in the tram.

Cheers John :)

Okay, a few assets here:

1. Blue Tram 4 by Silversmith. Works but with a warning, just to do with requiring a shadow mesh so that isn't too important.

2. Dropcentre Tramcar 200 by motorman1066:

"Attachment point 43 (a.passit44) in 'queues\passengers\attachment-points' was not found."

3. Huddersfield tram #74 by brook, again just a mesh warning so not too important.

4. Tram - Leeds 180

"Attachment point 33 (a.passit36) in 'queues\passengers\attachment-points' was not found."
"Attachment point 34 (a.passit22) in 'queues\passengers\attachment-points' was not found."

5. Blackpool Jubilee 761

"The texture '761 body/life.bmp' is not a power of 2, please resize it."
"The texture '761 body/life black.bmp' is not a power of 2, please resize it."
"Attachment point attachment (a.compressorsound) in 'soundscript\compressor' was not found."

Bloody hell, there's a lot :(

I made a tram depot and extension - my KUID is 275817 - if you can't find it, let me know but you will need to include TRS2004 in your search.

Hi Jack,

It's not so bad, really. These will take you about 10 minutes at the most to fix. :)

Dropcentre Tramcar 200 by motorman1066
"Attachment point 43 (a.passit44) in 'queues\passengers\attachment-points' was not found."

Open up for edit in Content Manager. (Right-click on the asset and choose this under Edit).

Double-click on the config.txt file.

It will open in Notepad...

Delete that line that causes the error.

Save the file.
Close the folder.

Right click on the asset and view errors and warnings. If there are none, press CTRL-M to commit the asset and it should be good to go.

Tram - Leeds 180
Repeat this process to fix the same two errors.

With the Blackpool Jubilee 761

"The texture '761 body/life.bmp' is not a power of 2, please resize it."
"The texture '761 body/life black.bmp' is not a power of 2, please resize it."

For these two, you need to use IrfanView or some other photo-editing program to resize the texture to some number that can take the square root of 2. Usually this is due to a dimension being something like 163 x 163 which won't work. This has to become 128 x 128, for example.

"Attachment point attachment (a.compressorsound) in 'soundscript\compressor' was not found."

For the missing attachment point reference, delete the line in the config.txt file.

Once these are fixed, along with the other error, close the folder. Check for errors and commit.

Hope this helps.

John

Hey John

I think I'm going to just give up with Blackpool Jubilee 761 until a later date. I'll give the others a go, thanks very much for the advice :(

Also Ray, thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look :)

SNIP...
2. Dropcentre Tramcar 200 by motorman1066:

"Attachment point 43 (a.passit44) in 'queues\passengers\attachment-points' was not found."

If I recall correctly, this one is caused by the attachment name having a trailing space in the queue attachment listing. (or in the mesh itself) All of motorman1066's trams have this fault.
